I received 4 fee waivers from Collegeboard in the mail earlier this week. In the packet they mailed me they mentioned that I had an additional 4 waiting for me on my online account. That would mean a total of 8 fee waivers to use.

I'm applying to 9 colleges. 1 of them offered to waive my fee. 2 of them are online (not on the common app) and I'm planing to physically mail fee waivers to them.

I'm confused about how to use the remaining fee waivers.
4 colleges are on the common app, 1 of them is a UC and the other is a CSU (I am a California Resident).

Do I still need to mail in printed fee waivers to schools on the common app?
Does anybody know how to use fee waivers for UCs and CSUs?

First off, you can only use a max of 4 fee waivers.

Look at all your schools policies on fee waivers. Some schools will give out their own fee waivers, allowing you to save the College Board ones for schools that do not offer their own fee waiver.

It looks like both UCs and CSUs have their own fee waivers. Apply for them, see if you qualify.

Every school is different in how they want you to turn in your fee waiver. Google “College name fee waiver” and you should get more info.

Ok the way understand it there are fee waivers through collegeboard and a list of schools who accept them. If you
used a fee waiver for the SAT then you should have 4 application fee waivers once you sign into your collegeboard account.

For UC and CSU if there are not on that list you might have to contact the school and ask.

From what I know(I have the fee waivers as well), its up to each school on how they want to/if they will take that fee waiver. Your guidance counselor may not know that much, because like I said, it varies school by school. Contact UA admissions and they should be able to give you a better idea.

You get to use a total of 4 CB fee waivers, provided you were fee waiver eligible for the SAT exam.

How many of these college application fee waivers am I allowed to use?

You may use up to four of these college application fee waivers.

I know at my school we did not receive any paper fee waivers from the CB. I think this is the process they are now using to deliver fee waivers; this way if you are fee waiver eligible you will be emailed the 4 fee waivers with your scores. You will not be eligible for “8” college board fee waivers; because you will only receive 4 CB waivers electronically.

In it it says: “because you used a fee waiver to take the SAT or an SAT subject test, you are eligible to apply to many participating colleges for free. So we’ve included in this packet four college application fee waivers for use at over 100 colleges and universities.
In September you will receive four additional college application fee-waiver forms to download from your SAT online account, which can be used at nearly 2,000 colleges.”

Further it says about eligibility to use the paper application fee waivers from packet:
“The college application fee-waiver forms included in your packet are intended to assist students who might not otherwise apply to a broad set of schools because of the cost of applying. Most colleges define eligibility for a college application fee waiver as: being eligible for or having a test waiver, participating in the National School Lunch Program, or receiving public assistance”

Also:“the enclosed college application fee-waiver forms are for use only at the 100+ colleges and universities that have agreed to accept them. These forms differ from the fee waivers that you receive if you take the SAT using a fee waiver, which entitles you to four fee waivers accessed online via your SAT account, for use at 2,000 participating colleges.
You can use these waivers in addition to the four fee waivers you would receive via your SAT account. You may also use these waivers even if you have not taken the SAT using a fee waiver, as long as you meet the income eligibility criteria listed above”

Included in the packet is a partial list of these 100 schools and it directs you to College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools for most complete list and up-to-date application and fee-waiver procedures for each college.

So to OP, make sure you read all the materials in the packet on how to use the “realize your college potential” fee waiver forms and the additional fee waivers through your SAT account.

"I have registered and taken the SAT using a fee waiver. When can I expect to receive my college application fee waivers?

If you are a senior and eligible for college application fee waivers, you will receive them when you get your SAT score. If you are a junior and eligible, you will receive them in the fall of your senior year."

Laralei, when did he take the subject test? Did he make a collegeboard account to access his SAT account?

If you don’t have the fee waivers there ask the schools what their procedure is if you used a SAT waiver and would they waive the application fee.

Laralei, the guidance counselor probably has to verify student’s eligibility for fee waiver. It’s confusing because the GC already had to verify eligibility for SAT fee waiver.

If you have the fee waivers in his SAT account I would use them, if not and he wants to apply now I would contact the schools he wants to apply to.
