Use of NCAA Clearinghouse Numbers

Do coaches input these numbers into the NCAA website when an athlete commits to an official visit, or only once they actually show up for it? I ask because D currently has 5 visits scheduled, but may either eliminate 1 school completely and keep a spot open just in case, or may substitute 1 or 2 schools on the list with different schools and visit them instead. (Obviously, she would be upfront and inform the coach/es well in advance that she was no longer interested in their school/s.) Since coaches ask for the clearinghouse number when scheduling a visit, my concern is that the coach of a new addition school could try to input her number and learn she already has 5 visits scheduled and he's not one of them, ha ha.

PS--D is not trying to play games with this. It's just that several schools didn't want to talk FA or scholarships until after she committed to an official, and so now that the offers are coming in we see that they're not remotely competitive.

Hi GFG,
I think that’s a question I’d take directly to the NCAA Clearinghouse, unless someone on CC responds, having talked with them recently. If you get a solid answer from the Clearinghouse, post it here. It’s an interesting question…

Hope all is going well for your family!
