Use SAT or ACT?

So, my scores: SAT 2310 W:11, ACT 34 W:9.

I've run into a bit of a pickle in that I have one really low Subject Test score (French, 640), and while I'm retaking it (since Yale lets me submit late) I can't decide if I should take the risk with the subject test for Pomona and Cornell or use the act and have a lower writing score (or should I just submit both?)

I would submit both if I were you. Assuming you’ve taken both SAT and ACT once I don’t think you have anything to lose. Great scores!

(edit: Sorry misread your question. Is your concern because you don’t want the 640 French showing up if you send SAT? If that’s the case, I would submit just ACT. It’s what I would do at any rate…)

Submit them both… SAT Subject Tests usually help you more than they hurt you, regardless of how low the score may seem. If your scores in other SAT Subject Tests are solid (as your SAT I/ACT scores both are), then it would be unreasonable to expect that ONE bad score would severely hurt your chances of admission. And if it’s of any consolation to you, I’ve seen quite a handful of applicants get admitted into top colleges (Cal, Penn, etc.) with ~700 in Math 2, a test where it’s not difficult to score above a 750.
