Hey guys, I was wondering if you guys all purchase used books? Are there any reason to purchase new books besides the fact that you're the first to use them? Thanks.

Sometimes professors go with new editions, hence you must buy the new edition which is in turn new.

I got old ones on half.com. Personally, I’d just get a used one that’s “like new” as they call it, because it’s good enough to use.

I don’t see a huge point of buying completely new books unless it makes you feel better or you enjoy marking it up first or whatever.

I used [AbeBooks Official Site - New & Used Books, New & Used Textbooks, Rare & Out of Print Books](http://www.abebooks.com) for a textbook. It was $113 used at the efollet bookstore, but i got it for $44! :)

At what % saving would you consider getting new textbook than old textbook? I’ve seen some "almost new"used textbooks but it only saves a couple dollars and I’m not sure if its worth the effort of ordering from multiple websites. Thanks guys!

Just go with one website, it’s not worth the few dollars you might save.
I went with abebooks.com, but then again, they sent my order out to a bunch of different companies. With one website, it’s so much easier to do refunds and track your orders.

New books are a waste of money. By the end of the course, your book is going to have some wear on it anyways so why not get it used? Besides, I bet you didn’t have new books every year in HS and that turned out fine.

I use comegetused(dot)com. It’s pretty amazing, check it out. The users are all from Cal and it’s relatively cheap for textbook exchange.
