useless jobs

Okay, so then you live a very ascetic lifestyle. Good for you.

But you own a TV? Radio? Useless. Throw them out. Electricity? Useless. Throw it out. I had a teacher in high school who had none of these "luxuries" as he called them.

I don't respect people who harp on other people's luxuries, yet don't see the inherent luxury in their own lifestyle. Then again, I also don't see the point of asceticism. It seems self-defeating to me.

no no TV or radio, electricity yes, makes it easier to . . live, study, whatever

People live like that to prove that they have self-control, after a while, they get used to not having it. Sometimes people do that to themselves so they can purposely live a hard life for the "pleasure of God in the end". Was your teacher religious?

One pair of clothing sounds a bit...grimy to me (unless you never sweat).

No, he was a hippie. Same difference, I suppose.

nah don't worry about it
And I don't have 1 pair, he had to live like that because he was poor. Now he's making probably more than either of your parents make, but we still have to exercise self-control...which leads to an abusive environment, unfortunately, if we get "out of line".

Now how do you know how much my parents make? It's not very good form when you make wild assumptions like that.

most likely, i'm not trying to be haughty or anything, it's not like we get to use the money as we like anyway

"Get out of line?" What's "getting out of line?" Wanting to live like a normal youth?
