usf offering summer term?

university of south florida, is offering me a spot in the summer B or i could choose to be placed on the wait list for fall 2011(does not guarantee a spot). just wondering, which should i choose? i was thinking to do the summer and join the school.
i was also wondering, what is the summer term like? do you get to continue your education with the rest of the FALL students? please reply thX!

bump please

mchief101 - I know nothing about the specifics, but If you really want to go to USF, then I would go for Summer. You will probably take a lower course load (assuming the smemster is condensed from 15 to 10 weeks) Then you’ll continue your studies in the Fall with the incoming people, except you will be in the know with respect to how to navigate campus, where the good eating places in town are etc. Penn State does this as well. Am also wondering if this is a sneaky way to get students to pay for 4 and 1/3 yrs, not just 4? Good luck! Maybe you could call up admissions and ask what are the chances of getting off the waitlist, based on previous years?

hey thx alot for the reply. but i think im going to summer. it also means im in right? which is a sigh of relief…and your right! it does give me a headstart!!!
but just wondering how it works, the classes, how are you going to cope with the work etc…idk…

mchief101: Call up the school and ask how it works for SUmmer. How many classes etc. have you also tried going to their website and searching for Summer Session info? Does USF have a semester or quarter based system? If Quarter based, the classes in Summer will likley be at the same pace as a regular class, if Semester based, the classes will move at a quicker pace. Hopefully the dorms have good air conditioning, as you’ll really need it in the summer in FL. Good Luck!

My son was also offered Summer Session B and we’ve already attended an informational session. Go to their website and check their Summer Success Programs. I think they have 3. The one my son will be in is called FSI… Freshman Summer Institute. He will go to 3 classes while there and take part in worshops, etc that will help transition to school in the fall. You must pass the 3 classes in order to be admitted to the fall semester. The dorms are all air conditioned and pretty nice. At least the ones that they are staying in for the summer. They are not sure which one he’ll get for the fall. For my son, it is a great opportunity because they will have more advising, etc. for those students which will give them a leg up once Fall semester starts. I know one of the other programs does not include all of the workshops and advising but is just the 3 classes. If you can pass them, you get into the fall semester. Hope this helps.

whats a pass? C and above?

I am pretty sure it is a 2.0.
