USF or UF (Engineering/Computer Science)

So I am a Florida Resident who has applied to all state schools. I had my heart set on UF and got in, with a catch. I would have to do Gator Engineering @ Sante Fe for 3 Semesters, bummer(Or is it). I got into USF fine and had accepted the fact that I wouldn’t get into UF, but I’m throwing this enticing curve ball. I have bright futures (FAS), would it cover Sante Fe. Costs aren’t the biggest deal, Florida’s pretty cheap either way. I do get a $3,000 from USF but is that enough for being a bull over a gator. I have friends at UF, they love it, and A LOT of friends going to USF 2018. I just don’t know. I’ve done a lot of research on the Sante Fe topic and it seems like a very good option as it is prob not too hard for me to keep a 2.5 GPA.
Thank you for your responces
and GO BULLS or GO GATORS!!

You need an assessment from @Gator88NE who will hopefully chime in.

My daughter is excited about GE@SF. Everyone suggests going to the orientation for more info.

@JDGatorfan Thanks, its def. on my list of things to do. I’ve seen @Gator88NE around the forums and he is one informative dude :smiley: .

Either option is fine. At the end of the day, the UF degree will have more value (especially in the southeast).

Lets take a look at the majors offered via GE@SF

I would highly recommend any of the above majors at UF over USF. In fact several are not even offered at USF (DAS, ENE, MSE and NE). Some of these are UF"s highest ranked engineering programs, like Materials Sciences and Engineering.

If you want to be a gator, go the GE@SF route, go to the football games, and have a great time with your friends.

Thanks @Gator88NE, I know the ranking of UF is very high when compared to other Florida schools and that’s why I’m debating the sacrifice. Also all the hs seniors on my street are going to different state schools (FSU [ew FAMU], UCF, USF) so I need to show them up by being a gator ;P. Thanks for the response! One question though, is the GE@SF an exclusive program or did anyone who signed up for CSE, DAS, etc. get this letter from UF?

@BelowAverage GE@SF is limited. The goal is to have 60 students this year. So, no, everyone was not offered it. My guesstimate is that it was offered to less than one half of one percent who applied.

@JDGatorfan Really? Then that starts to sound like a good option lol. I’ll have to fact check it but that very interesting, Thanks

@BelowAverage My facts will check out. Good luck with your decision.

Last year, UF made 240 offers (GE@SF), and 58 students accepted. see page 16 of the 2017 Annual Admissions Report.

@Gator88NE Thank you!

@Gator88NE thanks. The data is out there if you know where to look!
