I want to pursue a career in software engineering. I'll have to major in computer science (or computer engineering). Would it matter what degree I got for this career.?
I may end up choosing usf over uf because of the aid I will receive at usf. What are the major differences between the computer science/computer engineering programs at UF and USF.? (pros cons)

But I will go to UF to do my Master’s.
Any suggestions/advice.?

USF! Go BULLS!

You should weigh the benefits of USF with aid and UF with no aid. Think about the job opportunities. Think about the education opportunities (internships, co ops, etc). What you’re willing to put in. With the money saved by going to USF, you can put that towards your grad school. If you want to stay in Florida go to UF for grad; if you don’t, go somewhere better! I’m looking into going to California for my MBA. It’s all about what you want for your future.

The above link is grossly misleading and sensationalistic. All UF has done is consolidate graduate-level research and degree-programs in computer science into the College of Engineering, rather than maintaining a redundant program within CLAS. For anyone that disagrees, please explain what the difference between a Computer Science PhD granted by CLAS versus COE would be? To UF’s credit, you can still get a BS in computer science within CLAS where there are legitimate differences in the educational breath between the two colleges. At the graduate level, it makes no sense.

I suppose the UF students who formed the “human chain” are grossly sensationalistic too!

“This is Murder!”…yeah, I’d say that is pretty sensationalistic. I didn’t say it wasn’t painful for those affected. But until you can explain how graduate-level computer science research is fundamentally different between the two colleges you are just making my case.

UF never planned to eliminate the computer science department… read this (especially the first paragraph)

Someone should have told the “human chain” students.

Much ado about nothing according to your link (although the people in the comment section still seem confused)

Assuming I like both campuses, which has the better cs program.?
