is it ok if I use an SAT2 math prep book for the sat 1's? i have "cracking the sat math 1 and 2 subject tests" book by princeton review. i'm just wondering if this book can help me get better at the actual sat 1 math, not sat 2's.

It will help you, but it won’t be as effective as a book specifically designed for SAT 1 preparation would be.

Yeah, get something like Gruber’s if you need help on math. SAT 1 math and SAT 2 math are different. SAT 2 Math is more straightforward and isn’t as “tricky” as SAT 1 Math.

No. A lot of the SAT2 stuff is not on SAT1, and therefore isn’t useful to know for the exam.

hey guys, I’m deciding whether I should take the Math 1 or 2? Which one is easier to get a higher score???

None of them are easier. If you’ve taken math up to pre-calc, take Math II. Otherwise take Math I. The Math II has harder concepts but a more generous curve. The Math I has “easier” concepts but has a harsher curve. Also, some schools only accept Math II (UC’s for example).

It’s easier to get a higher score on Math 2. (The curve is more forgiving.)

^What the hell are you guys talking about? i’m not going to take the SAT2’s … my question was if I could use an SAT2 Math Prep book for the SAT 1’s (AKA SAT REASONING TEST)

So you want to use a book that made by princeton review AND made for the wrong test?

“What the hell are you guys talking about?”

dwarfwarri posed a question to which we responded.

Bigb14, the Princeton Review Cracking the SAT2’s prep book has an overview of the fundamentals you need, that you need to know for the SAT1’s too such as plane geo, coordinate geo, algebra, etc. so I was thinking maybe it can help me cover and understand all the basics/foundations i need to know for the SAT1’s. because i’m still stuck in that low 500 range, and lack some basic principles. So um why not?

Just use grubers. It has all the concepts you would need and it is an SAT 1 book not an SAT 2 book. But remember, use this book only for reviewing. You should only use CB tests to gauge your performance. Don’t use the PR SAT 2 book, it is geared towards the SAT 2 NOT the SAT 1.

But you need to understand that “coordinate geometry” is a very broad term… which covers a lot of stuff not tested on the SAT
