Using Florida pre-paid or out of state pre-paid

I know this is a very specific question and maybe one for people who are attending now but thought I would ask. We did the Florida prepaid college plan for my son who will be a freshman at Tulane in the fall. We did one year of dorm, and 4 years of tuition and fees. Does anybody know how this can be used at Tulane. Thanks.

Contact the Florida PP plan. They have the amount that you will receive. It is based on the tuition at a Florida state school next year and the cost of the dorm. Only certain dorms can be selected for the FPP and there is a price set for those eligible. I think it is about ~$6000 for tuition and $4000 for the dorm.

Each plan is a little different so you have to have them look up your plan and the current value.

Florida Prepaid has a transfer form that you can fill out and return. You name the school where you want the benefits to be transferred and they handle the whole thing. Google “Florida Prepaid transfer form” for a link to the form itself. It states:

If you have a dormitory plan, the Florida Prepaid College Plan will pay one semester of dormitory per term at the average dormitory rate payable to Florida’s public colleges or universities under your prepaid plan or the actual amount invoiced by the school, whichever is less.

The college must submit an invoice to the Florida Prepaid College Plan each semester. The Prepaid Plan will send payment instructions to the college you have selected and will pay the college directly until your prepaid plan is depleted.
