Using my SAT vs ACT Score

I just got my May SAT score back, and to be honest, I am a little disappointed. But now that college is around the corner, I was wondering which score I should use: my ACT or SAT.

ACT- 33C
35E
34M
31R
33S
Essay: 23/36

SAT- 1500/1600
770 Reading+Writing
730 Math
Essay: 21/24

The biggest reason I am debating this is my essay scores, but my math SAT score also worries me. I have an 800 Math II SAT score, but I don’t know if that will look a little sketchy on my application. I want to major in Physics or Chemistry, so I know my math score will be very important. Thanks in advance for your help!

I literally have exactly the same problem.

I have a 34 ACT (35E, 33M, 34R, 34S) and a 1500 SAT (740 math, 760 reading+writing).
My ACT essay is a 23 as well, and my SAT is slightly better at 19/24.

I don’t know which score looks better, and I’m worried about sending both.
I could always retake, but I’m a junior and it might be too late idk.

Regarding the essay, my counselor tells me that colleges take that score with a pinch of salt, as they know that standardised essay scoring is questionable at best. They care much more about the application essays.

I would suggest that your SAT score is slightly better, especially with a 31 reading for ACT.

Best of luck!

Submit the SAT. Colleges won’t look at your SAT math score if you have a Math II score. It’s not that sketchy as long as you have more rigor to back up your mathematical competency (AP Calc BC, 5 on exam, math competitions, etc.).
