I was just curious, is it a good idea to keep my old biology, chemistry, physics, and organic chemistry textbooks to use as a study aid for the MCAT? I'm short on cash and debating on whether or not I should sell them back. Would buying MCAT study guides such as Kaplan MCAT Review or Princeton MCAT Review be more helpful when compared to the old science textbooks?

I think that the general opinion is that the prep books are better review than old textbooks. There are specific things that the MCAT tests, and the prep books are focused toward making sure you know those things.

as someone in the midst of MCAT prep right now, I can assure you that textbooks contain far, far more information than you need to know. The prep books are amazing in that if it's not in the prep book, you don't need to know it.

Old textbooks are decidedly low-yield and thus not worthwhile.
