I took both the SAT and the ACT. But, I did way better on the ACT and sent everyone that (including JHU, Union, Gettysburg, University of Florida, SUNY Binghamton, Tulane). Out of those, I was accepted to all but the former (jhu) where I was waitlisted. So, colleges don’t mind!

SAT and ACT are usually viewed equally.

I scored 2040 on SAT and 33 on ACT so I’m sending in my ACT scores. I’m applying to schools in the midwest anyways so its good.

My counselor there is no specific preference, even for Ivies/east coast schools

My ACT wasn’t 25+…It was a 23. I only took it once (October of last year). I had planned on taking it in June, but was really sick that day. I actually was also sick when I took the October test and was surprised I did as well as I did (I was expecting around a 20 since I was so sick, but I took it because I wanted to make sure that I would have a second chance if needed). I was accepted at SUNY Brockport, D’Youville College, Norfolk State University, Temple University, Coppin State University, Le Moyne College, Drexel University, and Howard University. I was rejected from SUNY Binghamton, and wait listed at SUNY Buffalo.

Thanks SingDance for your update. This all gives me hope for my D.

Think of it this way…it is in the colleges’ best interest to give the applicants credit for the highest scores. That way the college can announce how competitive this year’s class is…blah, blah, blah.

A lot of schools now will also take ACT w/ Writing in lieu of SAT IIs as well. I only submitted my ACT of 32.

bplusmom - No problem :)

Knights is right. This is partly why I chose to take the ACT. I didn’t want to have to take a bunch of SAT IIs.

Knight09

Where did you apply and where did you get in? I am still trying to figure out what to do with these darn SAT IIs. My D does not want to take them and she needs to do well on the ACT in Junes so we can stop this madness.

[All four-year U.S. colleges now accept ACT test - USATODAY.com](http://www.usatoday.com/news/education/2007-03-18-life-cover-acts_N.htm)

D scored a 35 on the ACT, which equates to a SAT 1560-1590/1600 or ~2340 on the ACT conversion chart. She scored a SAT 1440/1600 or a 2040/2400 with writing. (Writing killed her, my blessed left-brain daughter :)) Anyway, we wouldn’t have sent the SAT’s except that she sent SAT II’s and there’s no choice; they go together. But the ACT score is what got her into her school’s honors program. Her SAT score, since they decided to include writing left her 20 points short. Thank goodness for the ACT’s. :)

My friend only submitted his ACT (not his SAT Reasoning or II scores) and got into Yale. Rejected from Columbia and waitlisted at Penn.

Thanks everyone for your input.
