The laziness of some teenagers is a source of constant amusement, I'm sure.

That said, one of the schools I'm applying to requires seperate essays to be submitted to the university itself, and seperate ones to be sent to the college within it that I want to enter.

Now, I've written essays for both, but I've found that one of my essays suits both of the topics really well. Exceptionally well.

My question is: would the university know/care if I submitted the same essay to both, considering they seem to have seperate admissions from each other?

Either contact someone who goes there, or you could even call up the school. If they say yes, go ahead, but if they say no, don't even think about it. I doubt the school would appreciate it if they found out, and that is not unlikely at all, considering it is the same school. Maybe you can attempt to split up the essay, see if that works. Since you have written two essays, that will be your back up plan. But don't take a chance and submit the same essay, unless you're positive it will work.

The reason they want two essays is to learn different things about you. If they wanted the same essay, they wouldn't ask for two. This is your chance to make another impression on them. In an interview, would you give exactly the same answer to two different questions? If not, don't do it on the application.
