using "UChicago" in essay

Just wondering--in my "why chicago" essay is it okay if I refer to it as "UChicago"? Is "Chicago" better? Or should I just be writing the whole thing?

Uchicago is fine.

Students and locals know it as U of C.

Used it. Got accepted.

This was actually a question in the Ask an Admissions Counselor thread. I can’t find the specific post because if you search on “UChicago” every post comes up because it is part of the thread title :). You can page through it if you want. I believe the answer was yes, use UChicago. HTH

UChicago, U of C, Chicago, and the proper title are all acceptable.

UChicago or University of Chicago are totally fine. U of C and Chicago are also acceptable, but generally students seem to be moving away from those terms in favor of UChicago. Anything is fine, though-- refer to us as you wish!

Just don’t call 'em Shirley.
