<h1>12 Mariners Win 9 Of 10 Matches In 43-4 Victory Over USCGA</h1>

<p>The #12 ranked U.S. Merchant Marine Academy wrestling team defeated the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, 43-4 on Thursday night in New London, CT. The Mariners won nine out of ten matches, with two pins in route to victory. #7 Dan Twito and Vincent Renaut both pinned their opponents on the night. </p>

<p>Jordan Alfaro started things off for the Mariners winning the 125-pound weight class by forfeit. #9 Philip Greene won on a decision over Bryan Conrad, 9-5. Twito won the 149-pound weight class when he pinned Dan Ippolito in 2:13. The Mariners next win came on a forfeit to Scott Lowe at the 157-pound weight class. Renaut then pinned Matt Leisy in 2:14. USMMA then sent Erik Schott to the mat and he defeated Kevin Robinson in a 5-2 decision. At the 184-pound weight class Sean Patrick beat Kevin Whalen in a 13-4 major decision. USMMA won the 197-pund weight class on another forfeit and James Billings finished out the night with a 4-3 decision over Troy Robison.</p>

<p>The wrestling team returns to action on Sunday, January 11th when they travel to Rutgers University. The Mariners will take on Division I opponents Rutgers University and Army. </p>

<p>Wrestling - Merchant Marine Too Much for Bears </p>

<p>NEW LONDON, CONN.--(1/8/09)--The Mariners won nine of the 10 matches, three by forfeit and two by pin as Merchant Marine, ranked 12th nationally, beat Coast Guard 43-4.</p>

<p>Junior Andrew Armstrong recorded the only win for the Bears as he beat Logan Little 10-2 in the 141 pound weight class.</p>

<p>The Mariners improve to 7-3 on the season while Coast Guard drops to 0-2 in dual meets.</p>

<p>Merchant Marine now leads Coast Guard 4-2 in race for the the 2008-’09 Superintendent’s Trophy, the next two points are up for grabs on Jan. 24th when Coast Guard hosts men’s and women’s swimming and diving at noon.</p>
