USN&WR - where are the Tier 2s?

Quick question -- how is Tier 2 defined on the USN&WR listings? I see Tier 1s and Tier 3s, but where are the Tier 2s? Are they implied as the lower end of Tier 1s? If so, where in the list do the 2s start? Or am I just missing something?

Generally Tier 1 is the first 50 schools and the rest are Tier 2 schools

however, the Tier thing is stupid, being in Tier 1 doesn’t automatically make you so much better than Tier 2, I refuse to believe that by going to Yeshiva over Fordham, you become so much better haha

Tier 1’s are the popular private schools. Tier 2’s are the public schools that are obsessed over rankings and finagle the data to improve how they look (like Clemson and OU). Tier 3’s are the public schools that could care less about rankings and focus on educating. Tier 4’s are the schools nobody has ever heard of.

Opposites to osucowboys generalizations:

Texas and Florida and Michigan are public schools in Tier 1
Baylor, while obsessed with rankings too, is a private school
Plenty of private schools in Tier 3 too

Pierre, don’t you have some kneeling to do at the alter of USNWR?

do I? I better get the sacrificial lamb then

“Pierre, don’t you have some kneeling to do at the alter of USNWR?” haha, I love your posts

The whole tier thing is garbage.
