USNA 2011 Appointment

Just curious...

Has any one REALLY gotten an appointment to USNA for 2011 yet??

When has the USNA begun sending those letters of appointment from past years experience? Dec Jan Feb?

THANKS! Happy New Years!

Son received his appointment for the Class of 2010 in November of 2005, the Monday before Thanksgiving his Senator called with the news. The Appointment Certificate and letter from the Academy arrived the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. (1 week later) The MOC's are given the honor (opportunity) of contacting you with the news before the Academy sends your Appointment. (He had an LOA)

My daughter has received an appointment to the Class of 2011 with letter dated Dec 19th. She was nominated by our MOC from the great state of Ohio!

USNA '08 - Letter dated Dec. 19, 2003, Presidential nom.

I have an LOA and a congressional nomination, I just haven't gotten the official paper in the mail yet. I'm watching it every day, though, but something tells me I won't get it until mid to late January. After all, I am still dealing with government.

For those of you waiting: please keep in mind offers of appointments go out weekly up to April 1st..... so there is still lots of waiting time left I'm afraid! Hang in there! The USNA is often the last of the academies to send out all their appointments- so if USNA is your first choice school, hang in and don't sign up for other offers.....you have until May 1st to accept any offers of acceptance (putting aside early decision school if you went that route)....

This is the hardest part, IMHO.....
so best to put it aside on the back burner and enjoy your senior year! If you want, tune into ESPN today at 1pm EST for the Mienke Bowl Game- Navy is going to slauter Boston College!!!! GO NAVY!!!! :)

Ok.. again.. I am talking about APPOINTMENT, Not LOA or nomination. So I am guessing for 2011 no one posting on this has actually gotten the actual APPOINTMENT yet.

Ok.. Thanks! I was just curious.

Understood. These are actual appointments. Son received letter dated 15 Dec from our MOC. His 19 December dated certificate, letter from the Superintendent, and initial orders (dental, multiple municipality police background checks, Accept/Decline response sheet, medical update and Instructions for keeping the USNA officials updated on any and all medical issues between DoDMERB and I Day, and outline of physical fitness workouts) are also in the appointment notice packet. Response date is May 1, 2007. Made for one of the merriest Christmases ever when that official document was opened that morn.:)

As noted earlier, our letter from MOC is an Academy courtesy made available to the nominator should he/she wish to be the first to deliver the great news.

Also, I've heard that several have received their packet minus any preliminary MOC notification, notably these are nominees from lame duck appointment sources. Guess they're busy seeking their own appointments by now.

I was wondering, does the admissions board send out "rejection" letters? Do you have to wait 'til the bitter end to find out if you have an appointment or not?

Good question!

On 15 Dec 06 our son was notified about his appointment.

I was notified the same day

I hope I was clear in my earlier post. The Letter of Appointment was dated Dec. 19, 2003, and that was received on a Presidential Nomination, a bit of info that I included since most MsOC do not notify of noms until after the beginning of the year, hence making it difficult to receive an appointment prior to that.

mdlrnc:

I was a candidate last year, and yes, you do get a "rejection" letter...it sucks. I got mine in April of last year. I'm reapplying this year, though, so we'll see how things go.

krypter- best of luck- hope this year brings you a nice fat letter!!!!

Thanks and Good Luck Krypter.

Thank you both.
