USNA Enlisted Chances.

I'm really sorry for posting once in the "Chances" Discussion Board, but someone suggested that I post this here since it might get a little more play time.

I'm going in through the Enlisted Ranks, hoping to either graduate Power School and apply, or apply during Power School.

I realize that once in the Navy, much of this won't matter anymore, and they will focus on my ability in the Navy.

Oh yeah! Also, could you offer me some insight on some routes I might want to take in Boot Camp/A School/Nuke School to ensure that I'm very competitive for the Academy? How about NAPS? I greatly appriciate it. So with that said, what are my chances?

One thing I don't get: With a record like that, why go enlisted first?

That's true. That's an outstanding record. I'm sure USNA wouldn't have any hesitation in offering you an appointment. For you to go enlisted first would not necessarily throw all that away, but it wouldn't weigh as much. You really should consider the Academy and what they have to offer right from the start!

What worries me is that you may have to spend a year or two in the fleet before they let you go USNA.

It's the SAT's.

They are low for a straight into USNA appointment.
I didn't want to get rejected right off the bat that's all..you spend so much time doing things and they won't even look at your file because your scores aren't too good. But I realize now that, it was my mistake. Can I still apply during boot camp? Or before Nuke School?

I don't know. Not during boot camp would be my guess.

You can apply whenever you want. It's just a matter of if you'll be picked up or not. But you obviously won't be accepted halfway through the year. All the same application rules still apply.

Honestly, how could you possibly be harmed by at least trying to apply? If nothing else, they tell you no. I'm sure if the SAT scores is the only thing that is harming you, they may be able to look at the rest of your record and at least toss you into NAPS.

You should at least try it out. Also, try to take the SATs again for a better score???
