I've been so focused on him going away, I hadn't even planned anything for his graduation! BAD MOMMY!! I'd spank myself, if I already didn't feel beaten up.

We actually have 2 graduations this year: my stepdaughter is also a senior. (However, she is headed to a state school just an hour away so, emotionally, it has been so much easier to "accept".) But, sheez, the planning for it all: not only all of the ceremonies & parties but, basically, the rearranging of much of the summer, too.
Speaking of parties and plans, we're planning to do a "Going Away" party for son: any thoughts/ideas?

When we had our going away party for our son, I had plain note cards with envelopes already addressed to our Plebe set up in a basket by the front door. As the guests came in, I asked all them to write him a short, encouraging note which I then mailed to him over the course of Plebe summer. He told me that he loved getting the notes from different people ( besides mom and dad) and that it really helped him to know that so many people were pulling for him. I also ordered yellow and blue M&M's off the internet to serve at the party.

At the party we threw for LFWB we got a replica of a vintage Merchant Marine recruiting poster and had everybody sign it, then had it mounted and framed. We also had addressed and stamped envelopes for people to take and send him mail over the summer.

These are such good ideas! Keep 'em coming! Where did you find the B&G m&m's?

you can order them right on line... from Hersey's... and you can even have them imprinted with "go navy" "beat army" and lots of other little tidbits!

Wow! I didn't know that. That is so neat! I'm going on-line, now!

for those wishing more info on custom-M&M,s, here is a great link-

have fun....!!!

I think it is now 119 days

Okay, okay!

The room that the younger will vacate is already semi-nautical. Wouldn't take much to add some gold touches.

119 days, huh? Not getting happier about that. :(

118 days to go

115 days to go

That's (only) 115 hugs if you get one a day.

That's how we (I) kept count.

Better start doubling up!
:)

112 days or hugs.

That doesn't seem like a very large number of days or hugs :(

110 days to go

ahhhh.... it's all a matter of perspective!!!

Spring Break: 1:02:19 :)
Sea Trials: 67:19:14
Herndon and "Plebes no More": 69:18:19
Ring dance '08: 72:05:20
Commissioning '07: 77:19:18

More importantly: My plebe son is coming home tommorrow for his Spring Break! Apparently a lot of the mids are sick too. They are piling on all of the work for today and all day Friday starting at 6am. But the PS3 is waiting for him...
