Anyone know when USNA does these two? Do they process as a group or in groups? My son got a Pres Nom to AFA in Sep but no word on this from Navy.

At USNA, Presidential noms are pretty "automatic." IOW, if you qualify for a nom and qualify as a candidate, you typically receive a Pres nom. The problem is that they're non-competitive. That doesn't mean that candidates don't receive appointments with "just" a Presidential nom -- many do. However, for USNA at least, it helps to have an MOC nom to go along with it.

I don't know if/how USNA notifies candidates re Pres noms. Have your son contact his BGO -- our system shows when candidates have Presidential noms.

VP noms have traditionally been reserved for people who have trouble getting other noms (for example, candidates who live overseas). But, folks right here in the USA get them as well; they tend to be given very late and there are only 5 VP appointments.

Thanks 85. He is qualifified. He did summer seminar and just got back from a recuiting trip for Water Polo. He is waiting on word on the Noms from our Senators but it is hard for me to advise him while I am in Iraq. I appreciate the insight. I will have him talk to his BGO. I don't think he has heard anything from him since his interview. Is the Pres Nom status listed somewhere on the Candidate website?

All nominations are listed on the Candidate Information System (CIS). The CIS lists nomination sources and the dates of the nomination.
