USNA Summer Seminar - conflicting with school schedule (Virginia)

My son is interested in attending the Naval Academy, so I have been looking into this Sumner Seminar. It looks like something he should consider applying to in the future (he is only a Freshman now). But - there is a problem.

We live in Virginia - where the public schools don’t release for the summer until mid to (typically) late June. If I am reading the site correctly - the Summer Seminar sessions are all run in early/mid-June. Unless he skips out of school early - I don’t think he can attend.

Am I reading this write - seems like kind of a bummer. He is already a little screwed coming from Virginia (all the competition). This seem like another challenge.

Hello - I skipped school for a week to attend Summer Seminar. I took all of my finals earlier so that I could attend. It was well worth it and plenty of students (not just from VA) do this.

Summer Seminar has to be completed before Plebe Summer. Check out the dates of the third session and see if that works. And yes, VA is tough to get a slot but it’s still worth trying.
