USNA Summer Stem 2017

Has anyone heard yes’s or no’s? Just curious whether they are going out yet.

No, I think May 1st because when I applied 2 years ago as an 8th grader that’s when I got a response

Son just got a positive response today for rising sophomore program. Good luck to everyone else. We are from Los Angeles – please share where everyone else is from.

2 years ago, my son was TD on 5/1. Last year he was accepted on 4/6. He is trying again this year. We are from Boston.

Anyone heard from Illinois?

My son’s a rising junior in Riverside CA . Any other acceptances yet - or rejections.

When did you get email?

Nothing here. I am excepting the turn down on 5/1

The application closed yesterday. Based on past years threads, it appears the bulk of the acceptances come in the week after the app closed and the rejections seem to come the end of the month.

My son heard (positive) on April 13th via email. He is a rising 9th grader from Nebraska.

I also think that when you turned your application in is in part part of when you will hear a decision. We only applied mid March I believe and heard on the 13th. Any other rising 9th graders? My son is excited.

Still waiting in Northern CA. DD is a rising 10th grader and has perfect grades, taking PreCalc now as a 9th grader, Varsity sports etc - all the bells and whistles. She applied Jan 3rd - the first day the application was opened. But she also has a nut allergy, and I can’t help but think that this is a ding in their book since it is a DQ for attending the Academy. Her father is an alumni so it’s a double slap in the face. I guess it was a long shot but that doesn’t make my STEM loving daughter feel any better. Does anyone know if a student with allergies has ever been accepted?

For those who are waiting, for what it’s worth, they give you one week to confirm your spot. We heard on the 14th and had till the 21st to confirm, pay etc. So confirmations and offers are probably still going out. If I didn’t hear by May 1st, I would have your candidate call the admissions office and ask. I wouldn’t do it as a parent, but would as a candidate.

Ok May 1st. Who is going first session (rising 9th graders)?

My rising 10th grade son was just notified that he is on the “wait list”. In 3 years applying, that makes 1 acceptance, 1 wait list and 1 rejection.

Im rising 11th grade and got waitlisted too. This leads me to believe that geography/race/time of application matter more than I thought, as I was significantly more qualified in every aspect than many who I have seen get in, but I decided to wait until the last day to apply…

@MyCatBorks – not to mention, you are probably the humblest person you know  Just curious, how do you know who got in? When my son got in last year, he was the only one from MA for his year.

@MyCatBorks – how are you aware of the other candidates credentials?

My daughter is a rising 9th grader going from Ohio. She is very excited.

@Buckeye96 – my son loved it. He made many friends he has kept in contact with. The only negative they almost all talk about is that it is too short.
