Does anyone have any experience and/or info about RV facilities in & around Annapolis. Not much to be found online so far. I have read that RVs have to park at Navy Marine Corps Stadium but not overnight. Are many RVs in use for tailgating? Where do they go at night??
Thanks!

If you have a military ID, you can use the RV sites (upto 40') at Naval Station Annapolis MWR.

Thanks d2b - we were wondering about some of those facilities. Gotta love MWR!

What's the tailgating scene at the stadium?
What size & type of vehicles are predominately in use?

tailgating: tent/class space is preassigned, and usually posted on'line prior to the fb games. The main concentration of tailgating is on the sites (perimeter) of blue and gold parking sites, although you will see tables set up everywhere there is parking- including the nearby elementary school fields 2 blocks north west of the stadium ( a lot of cars park there, but need to get there early depending on who is playing). The parking in the main B&G lots is reserved for season ticket holders- which is an option if you live close enough.

As with most places, most tailgate out of the back of cars- from packaged store-bought items to b'bques and tables with crystal! It runs the gamet. Must admit, did not notice any RVs at the site- at least for the 2 home games we went to this year-mostly just personal vehicles (no trucks). And while tables were set up in each row of parking, the main events were located around the perimter of the lots- lots of alumni class tents- team tents- - parent club/state tents- lots of fun!

I am a season ticket holder at USNA. There are some RVs at the games on the gold side of the stadium. They are generally parked along the outside of the lot, close to wear Mids can park their cars. Not sure what arrangements are made for parking. Most of the parking permits are sold to season ticket holders but there are generally a very small number available to others on a first come first serve basis. I would contact the ticket office in Ricketts Hall and ask. Their number can be found on www.navysports.com.

USNAMom: We're season tickets holders, too...Gold Sec 128. Are you going to the Football Banquet?

Now I'm really jealous of the locals who can see their mids and friends on a regular basis. I would like to hear some sympathy for the likes of momof1(Alaska) and others like myself who live on the opposite side of the country. The USNA families I really feel sorry for live in out of the way places far from major airports. At least I can get to Baltimore in five hours on a non-stop. Well, at least I can hope that my mid will be stationed on the left coast. ;)

UsNA09mom: Before you feel too badly... although we live in Baltimore Co. now, we are permanently relocating to SW Florida this summer once our daughter goes to college -- so we will be in the same situation as most everyone else! We started building our new house down there long before she was serious about the Academy -- but, since we might not have tuition to pay, we'll be buying lots of airplane tickets to BWI!!

Unfortunately, I cannot make the football banquet this year. I understand that it is a nice event if you can attend. BTW, I only moved to the Annapolis area a few months ago! I am enjoying being closer but also enjoying the area around Washington DC and Virginia as well. Good luck with your move to Florida. Isn't it funny how we all seem to want to be somewhere warmer as we get older? Believe it or not, this area IS warmer for me.

I'll give you all the sympathy you deserve and then a double dose extra! We are just outside the distance limit to be a sponsor, but close enough to visit whenever our mid asks, attend all the home football games and serve as surrogate mom & dad for all our mids companymates (I had a houseful at the end of break -- when those who attended the bowl game got an extra day of liberty but already had flights booked back for the original date). I can't tell you how often I've reflected on how different the experience is for the mids and parents who don't have this luxury.

How does your mid like you living in Annapolis? When my son started the process I joked with my husband that we should move if he got in. My husband retires in 2007 so I do not know what we will do. Housing in Annapolis is pricey.

We don't actually live in Annapolis but close enough. My son is actually quite pleased that we are close by. He has brought home many of his friends on his weekends off. We don't visit the Yard all that often unless there is a football game or one of his games. I let him take the lead and he does visit with his friends quite often. One word of advice----get a house big enough for all of his buddies!
