I have also started applications for both Army and Navy ROTC.

You already know that your GPA is on the low side.

Your ACT is about average.

Your EC’s are probably about average for USNA. Varsity sports are excellent, plus being captain.

So, for USNA and USMA, you have a decent shot. Probably less than a 50/50 chance in my opinion, because of your GPA. Keep working on the CFA. Your grades are what they are now, but still try to improve. Consider re-taking the ACT and also taking the SAT. Some people score better on the SAT than the ACT.

For ROTC, you are in excellent position for a scholarship either from the Army or Navy; better than 50/50 chance IMO. However, you need to remember that the Navy chooses your college (based on their quotas, and your preferences). You are far more likely to get your first choice college if you apply as early as possible. I recommend you finish the NROTC application before the Army; before returning to school, if you can. Choose five colleges that you are confident you can get admitted to (non elite, in other words, not Yale nor Duke etc…) and that you like.

Good Luck! :-bd
