Usnco!

I hope you were being sarcastic about having an "okay" shot....lol. If your not, then I don't have a prayer.

hm...i hope i'm being sarcastic =P

If there's one thing I can take out of all of jdlkem's USNCO-related posts, it's that he loves to mess around with us laymen. :P

oh but i thought you were a pioneer in this field. that cant make you a layperson...stop grouping yourself with the others

you'll get hurt.

:)

That last post was intended to inflate your ego. Looks like it backfired, heh.

lol. perhaps.

WELL,

good luck to people who still have yet to take this test...
and we shall see what happens a week from monday or tuesday...

wow from the sounds of things i proabably won't make honors at all... :(

I thought my MC and FR were okay, but not compared to you 56-57 people -.-

I died on pt iii lab.

i hope my teacher will send me again next year... i'll definitely cram more esp. with atkins instead of my crappy zumdahl (worthless... doesn't explain anything clearly)

MC 50-55
FR 75-80
Lab Bad

A lot of people are badmouthing Zumdahl. I haven't seen Atkins, so I can't really make a complete judgment, but Zumdahl didn't seem so bad. It was definitely sufficient to get past the local (I got 64/70, t-2nd in Section, we use the USNCO local plus 10 extra probs).

AP Chem book is sufficient for honors or maybe high honors, but for making the camp you'll need atkins + orgo. Lots of orgo.

the ap chem book, depending on what it is, is good enough to make it to the camp.

orgo is not needed to make it to the camp.
atkins is recommended/the choice for several camp attendees

You don't think so? They're putting more and more orgo on the test each year.

That's a good thing btw, I've seen other nations' national exams and about half of each test is organic...the US has to keep up.

When do you guys think results will be out?

I believe they will be contacting us Monday if we made the top 20.

Anyone know when Honors (or not) will be notified?

Woodward-Hoffman + Mitsunobu >>>> IChO syllabus > ACS's stupid national exam scoring system > being forced to take the exam a week earlier than everyone else

I no longer feel disappointed.

O M G

Y A Y

I just got the package from my local div. I FREAKIN GOT HONORS :) and someone from our div got into camp. im 1 out of 2 honors :):) no high honors

I'll do better next year!!

actually...
have you ever even taken an icho exam?
it requires a lot more skill than just memorizing the woodward-hoffman rules for pericyclic reactions or the mitsunobu reaction mechanism...

hey how exactly does local for USNCO work

i heard its 2 people per school for local test...but lets say i get a 30/60 for local test(which is obviously reallly really bad), but only like 3 people at my school took it, so the 30/60 still was 2nd best...

will i still be able to take the USNCO test?

or is it they have to meet a certain score requirement+be top 2 in school?

I was joking earlier...but I wouldn't expect you to pick up on that :P

hey piccolojunior, you seem to be very involved with this...do you know where you can get the specific rules?

like the answer to my question^^

thanks.
