Hi,
Quick opinions… for a 3.4 student with strong curriculum rigor, B in Calculus AB, wants to study CS or perhaps MIS or ITS, looking to add a university without a supplement, which would be best: U Southern Maine or UMaine Orono?
(Both offer good OOS tuition, well within budget). UMaine has a good school for CS and Informatics but U Southern Maine has Portland nearby (no idea about the CS program). Any preference?
Or do you know a university that’s appropriate for that profile and a 30K budget, on commonapp?
Already on the list: Truman State, Champlain, UMass Lowell, Marist.
UMaine is the more selective.
Northeast? The $30K is for tuition only?
SUNY Buffalo, apply today!
Thanks!
No regional preference. Likes cities and college towns but not colleges 'with nothing around ’ - small town is fine too but not rural like Kenyon /Gambier.
30k is for direct costs (tuition +r/b) give or take. It means either low costs to start with or 20k scholarships liberally provided.
In terms of environment, what’s Orono like?
Orono? Not sure. The campus is apparently pretty. It’s considered “rural” but it’s not far from the big smoke of Bangor (3rd largest city in ME).
Thanks!
Any other opinion?
