USPS pre-shipment notfication

If anyone has received one, please PM me.

I have one pending but I’m not sure if it’s school related?

PM’ing you

I don’t think you will see any shipment notifications from school acceptances this soon… I know for a fact that Andover sends theirs around March 8 or March 9 overnight shipping

@Anonymousia that does not appear to be accurate.

^^^This game has become, IMO, one of the worst things about the entire BS application process.

Resist the temptation.

The temptation to do what?

To check pre-shipment notices…perhaps it’s automatic for USPS, but if it’s not, resist the temptation to check “if you have a package coming”. Just let it come. Or not.

They are automatic. But I see nothing wrong with people trying to sneak a peek at the Christmas presents in mom and dad’s closet. I certainly won’t be sharing anything I see with my son, in the event that anything I think I know isn’t accurate. It’s an individual choice. Just because it is wrong for you doesn’t mean it is wrong for others.

Of course, to each his/her own.

But to me, it’s just another thing for people to have anxiety about. Another way to “game” the system. At this point in the process…what’s another 24 hours? I certainly didn’t do it for either of my kids, didn’t recommend that they do it, nor do I recommend it to anyone.

I should have been more precise. I was disagreeing with @Anonymousia 's first statement, not his second.

I think it’s ok for folks to do whatever they feel comfortable doing. I have been checking notifications and emails a lot. And I’m sure I’m not the only one. im someone who feels comforted by information. Live and let live.

“Gaming” the system? People nowadays have automatic notifications for UPS/FedEx/USPS shipments, flight departures/arrivals/delays, bank account transactions and activities, email logins, and what not. Many like or need to be informed about stuff shipped to their address. Live and let live sounds right to me.

@GoatMama agreed. We got no pre-notifications last year yet received some packets so I am not sure it is infallible.Plus some schools send emails and/or you check the portal…

@Korab1 – Do you live outside of the US? A package shipped on the 6th to be timed to delivery 4 days later is odd. Are they sending it by Pony Express? FWIW – I get USPS notifications even when a different carrier is used.

No I am in the states. It indicated that a shipping label was prepared, not that it was received by USPS yet.

Not surprising. Lots of schools send decisions before March 10. Some are targeting around M10 and more often than not they’d arrive before M10.

Not tsao schools.

Nope. Not convinced that getting a pre-check-in notification from an airline is at all equivalent to trying to find out whether or not school X is sending me/my kid a “big package” IN ADVANCE OF THE DATE THAT IT IS SUPPOSED TO ARRIVE.

But if y’all want to tell yourselves that to make you feel better, that’s fine. As you were.

@Korab1 – There is an estimated delivery date on the USPS notification. When is yours?
