Hello! I am from Texas and don’t know my results either
Hello! I’m from NJ and I still haven’t heard back. Friend from AZ did hear back, however.
NE here – I haven’t heard back either. I know that “Mid-December” is supposedly when us Nebraskans are supposed to be notified, but I can’t help but be super antsy about it. I’ve literally dreamed about being accepted the past two nights.
Also, would anyone happen to know if there’s a set number of finalists for each state? I’ve seen the number of 6 finalists and 10 semifinalists floating around, but I wasn’t sure if it was applicable to all states.
It isn’t applicable to all states. New Jersey has one application that you send in, and then the delegates are notified.
Hey, I am USSYP class of 2016. I know exactly what you guys are going through. I want to provide you guys as much info as possible. First the decision has already been made, so if that gives you comfort, know that. Hearst sets Dec 1st as the absolute first date that you can be informed. If your state is cool, you will get a call from a local legislator or something and be informed. If not, you will be like me and learn via a UPS package from Hearst delivered sometime this week. Those have been sent, and you will be receiving them soon.
Know that the USSYP class of 2016 is also freaking out rn. We all remember the excitement we felt last year and are scrambling to find who our respective states have put forward. Take a deep breath, enjoy the upcoming holidays, and most of all good luck!
I was one of the Nebraska delegates for USSYP class of 2015. I didn’t get my acceptance letter until the 5th. Don’t fret too much- those who usually get selected have to wait for their letters a little bit longer, (the burden of info packets is that they’re not as easy to put together as the generic rejection letter)!
Thanks for your replies and reassurance! The 5th can’t come soon enough… hopefully I’ll have an update tomorrow!
I’m from California. I know my chances are slim due to the enormity of my state, but I am holding out hope!
From CT and still don’t know my results.
Still no update… I hope that’s a good sign.
What state are you from? @SpaceColonel
DoDEA delegate here. Hoping to get picked!
@dilemmatheemma Nebraska. I suppose I really will have to wait until mid-December to find out, as stated in the NE guidelines.
Does anyone know if we expect a rejection letter if we don’t get chosen? Or just no communication at all?
I’m from Connecticut and I found out today that I was chosen as a delegate. Good luck to all who are waiting to hear!
@emksully congrats! how did you find out?
I didn’t get it last year and there was 0 communication. I found out because I follow the Department of Education on twitter.
@swim1128 thanks! I was called down to my principal’s office during school yesterday because he had gotten an email. A package also arrived at my house today from the Hearst Foundation. Hope you get in too!
