Too many for what? Clarify what you want answered so people can give you useful suggestions and advice. What sort of schools do you mean? What are other credentials?
Too many for acceptance. Schools like: Harvard, Stanford, MIT, and Princeton. I am a Sophomore no other credentials as of now. Also how impactful is a strong upwards trend?
I see you have mentioned MIT quite a bit. I have no affiliation with MIT but there is a very good write up that is very relevant to many of your posts at http://mitadmissions.org/blogs/entry/applying_sideways
No specific number of B’s is too much. If you tend to get B’s there are many great schools that are a good fit for you. Schools like Harvard, Stanford, MIT and Princeton would not be among them. That’s because the schools will probably decide that there are other students who will make better use of those schools than you. But, there are many schools that you will be a good fit for that those students wouldn’t be. There is nothing wrong with getting Bs. There is nothing wrong with going to schools that are dissimilar to the ones you mention. If you are an international student, it is likely that the very top student in your city will end up in one of those schools that you mention. If it turns out that you are the very best student (or maybe one of 3) in your city, then you may end up at one of them. Are you the top in your city? How about your school district? How about your high school? If not, there are tons of great schools that are not IVY+ schools that might be perfect fits for you.
99.999% of the population are better fits to schools other than the ones you mention.
Lol. I don’t have that many B’s (Maybe about 4-6 total) I am just curious. I live in the USA. Our school does not rank. And I know there is no specific number but can you please estimate.
A low GPA is a definite negative on your application to say the least.
How low is low?
If you are aiming for Ivis, Stanford, or MIT then less than a 3.8 is considered low. You can google it if you want to make sure but I’m a 100% sure and I’m saying the right thing.
OP, let’s just say you will need several matches and safeties.
Also I made USAMO so that may help my chances.
So am I okay with like an 3.82?
Wouldn’t say you’re “okay with like an 3.82” because that would be saying “yeah, you’ll get in with a 3.82” to any of the schools you mentioned, people with 4.0 and 36s are not guarenteed a spot.
You will likely get into good schools with that GPA, but don’t be set only on the ones you mentioned.
Your rank is more important than the number of Bs. Even if your school doesn’t rank they will be able to guess how you rank based upon the grades of other students from your school who apply.
So as long as your rank is within top 5% the number of Bs makes very little impact.
