I'm an incoming freshman and interested in rushing during the Fall. I've been told I should think about going to Round-Up.
What is it and should I go?

I heard incomming freshman are not allowed to go. you need a Utid to get a wristband. but if you know somebody who can get you one you should definitely get one and go.

The official purpose of roundup is for sororities to get to know girls that will be, or are thinking about, rushing in the fall. The only truly designed events for this, however, are on friday afternoon/evening at all the different sororities. After that, there are big themed parties at various fraternities on friday nights, day parties at fraternities on Saturday that are typically crawfish boils, followed by more themed fraternity parties Saturday night. Fraternities also use this as a time to meet prospective rushees for the fall, as getting on the “rush list” is the key to getting into the parties if you’re not of age and willing to shell out money. If you know any members of fraternities, definitely talk to them and see if you can get on a rush list for any of these parties. Age is not a barrier, i even went as a junior in highschool, neither is school since many college aged kids from other colleges come just for it. It is a huge weekend of events and definitely worth going if you have the connections.

Thank you! I know two DGs that i’ll be going with.

Actually Cdarling is correct…they are really cracking down this year and it will be extremely difficult for high schoolers to get in to any events.

Round-up is historically a fraternity event, although over the years the sororities have used it to thier advantage by having daytime events at thier respective houses to support thier philanthropies. The sororities also wear their letters to all of the fraternity events for PR and give the fraternities t-shirts to wear.

You will be required to have a college ID to get a wristband and there will only be one wristband per ID given…which will be placed on the wrist at the time it is given out.

A group from my university wants to go-- can you use a non UT college ID to get a wristband?

^^yes you can as long as it is a college ID. There will be a specific place and time to get the wristbands if you are not a UT student.

Do you know any details about the wristband pick up for non UT students? I wont be able to make it until Saturday can I still pick up one then?

I could not fin specific information regarding this year…however, this is a letter from last year…Im assuming the protocol will be similiar.
