UT 2015 Thread

My daughter is still waiting on her BME acceptance. She got the notice that she would be accepted as “leading candidate” but not guaranteed into Engineering. Do you think the website will update this weekend?

I just checked the website and nothing was posted yet. Has anyone heard anymore on the February 15th date for out of state students?

nope, im out of state and waiting too i heard it could be later than the 15th but im not sure

Will instate receive their decision as well, at least according to the rumors?

The rumor now is that the Feb. 15th rumor was false. Some people are saying Feb. 20th which is a Sunday.

My counselor called and told me they said by the end of February.

jeez, it was never a rumor, it was a set date by the admissions office that got pushed back because they weren’t going to finish.

it’s now at a later date.

That’s what I would call a rumor^

it’s a rumour because i’m not from the admissions office?

TXArtemis stated they heard February 15th from the mouth of an admissions officer/counselor back in January. do i have to quote it or what?

either way, it’s not february 15th anymore, clearly. assistant director of admissions told my mother late february with letters all sent out by march.

Thanks, jamtastique. Guilty as charged. I’m so sorry I added to the anticipation jitters, but several of us got Feb. 15 “straight from the horse’s mouth.” I am sure back in January, UT sincerely hoped to be done by today; but gosh, what a challenge those folks face considering the record number of applications they received this year. Wouldn’t you hate to be in their shoes, trying to match each great applicant with all of the different admission schemes and 1st/2nd major + honors options?

Good luck all around!

Did anyone get a decision today? If not, what is the OFFICIAL date?

Nope I didnt. I’m in state

Same. The new rumor is feb. 20

i think we’d all be better off if we didn’t have a date circulating.

creates even more anxiety, and in the end more disappointment if the admissions office still hasn’t finished posting all decisions.

trust me, i’m sweating bullets but i’m being as patient as i can.

Jamtastique: I wish for a favorable result for you.

I think the more time they take the better the result.

I hope they will make wise choices based on a complete review of all that each applicant has to offer. I hope they will not rush through it because they are getting tired of the process or just to meet a deadline.

Best wishes to all who wait and wait and wait. Maybe some of you will one day become admissions counselors. :)

thanks eaglemom (:

and earlier, TXArtemis, i apologize for calling you out! your post was just the only one i could find since the older threads have disappeared.

i really hope that the decision i get is a good one. all this time just to CAP me? sheesh! i do appreciate that they have holistic review at all. otherwise my numbers would kill me right off the bat.

Jamtas, what are your numbers?

I urge those outside of top 8% not to lose hope. In 2006, my d was top 11% and was admitted to her first choice major/college. Granted it was BS Psychology/Pre-Med track in COLA which is not as competitive as Cockrell or McCombs, but it was her first choice and she was admitted and offered COLA Honors (also known as Plan I Honors). She also received a small merit scholarship. The holistic review really paid off for her because she was a candidate with unusual strengths not reflected in the usual rank/gpa numbers game.

(Of course, she is now a UNC-CH alum. I suggest never visiting Chapel Hill, NC or the campus of UNC. You will be ruined for all other schools forever.)

If this has not been posted, here it is.

From the UT admissions Facebook today.

“Freshman applicants: Admission decisions are coming this week! They’ll be posted on your Application Status page first. Stay tuned…”

Ahhh that’s terrifying but exciting! Thanks for posting that here!

^^this!!!
