UT 2015 Thread

I saw the facebook post as well…

I couldn’t be more nervous. Does anyone know if they will update your status check during the course of the day or if they do it at midnight or a specific time?

oh crap. now i’m going to have a heart attack every time i’m away from a computer to check my status.

my stats are… embarrassing compared to everyone else’s that i’ve seen on this board. i don’t go to a competitive high school (my school is average at best) like the other IS people do, and even though my SAT score is at the top 1% in my school, my rank suggests otherwise. basically i slacked in high school until this year and i regret it, but there’s nothing i can do now.

if i get CAP’d i won’t be bummed… unless my mom makes me live at home (says the only money she has to spare for me to go to school is her retirement fund and doesn’t want to spend it). then i will hate my first year. UTSA has plenty of scholarships i qualify for though, so i’ll probably be fine.

Ah! Can someone answer Canyon15’s questions because it is the same one that I have!

I am tired of constantly checking throughout the day and seeing the same message.

Good luck to everyone that finds out this week!

@jamtastique, no apologies are due on “calling me out,” I sure didn’t mean for my “thanks” to sound sarcastic–should’ve used a smiley! I am keeping my fingers crossed for you and wish you the very best no matter what. I like your attitude. Even if you are CAP’d, I am confident you will make the most of it!

Whoa. I got in!
ACT - 29
Liberal Arts
Home schooled…

I can’t believe it, either!!

Admitted to McCombs today!!!
In state, non-ranking school, ACT 35, 4.1 w GPA.

YEAH, TIGER!!! That is wonderful! McCombs!!! Woohoo!!! :)

Congrats, lamegan! The homeschooled are some of the most well behaved and well educated teenagers that I have been acquainted with. Kudos to your parents for a job well done!

ldboy got into Cockrell ChemE as well. No word on Engineering Honors.

Stats (remembering them as best I can):

ACT - C34 M36 and I forget the others
SAT - W750, CR750 M720
SAT II - MathL2 800, BioM 740
(I think I posted 750 on the BioM someplace else, but that is incorrect.)
Unwtd GPA - 3.8 Wtd - 6.8
AP Scholar at end of junior year
Rank: barely top 5% (large Houston public)
Extracurriculars: Regional and state recognition
(No national recognition other than NM.)
Leadership: drumline captain, band, clubs
Community service: less than 50 hours per year accumulated…drumline and band
consume most of his time.

Other acceptances: TAMU Engineering, Mines. Waiting to hear from Stanford, Duke, Rice. Highly likely he will attend UT based on quality of curriculum in relationship to cost to attend. In other words, if accepted to Duke, Stanford or Rice, they’d have to come up with merit money which would be unusual. He attended Honors Colloquium over the summer and likes UT a lot.

Thanks. It’s been so cool to be on the boards with you. Does your S go to a school that has the eagle for a mascot?

I didn’t get into mccombs but I got into the undergrad school. I’m still pretty excited!

Hi, Tiger, no he is an Eagle Scout, so I am an Eagle mom

I am so very happy for you.

Thank goodness the wait is over!

Mmm didn’t get into McCombs but got into undecided. A little disappointed and it definitely gives me more of a reason to go to Penn State. I’m OOS. Does anyone have any knowledge on how hard it will be to transfer into McCombs after the first year.

@zinnala: Congrats!!! Well done :)

@oddjob702: Congrats to you as well. My S also did not get his first choice major. There are lots of threads about transferring into McCombs with links to information on UT’s website. Its tough, but not impossible.

I got in! I was in the computer lab refreshing my page every five minutes or so instead of working on an essay when my status updated. The entire class knows how much UT meant to me and we celebrated for the remainder of class. I couldn’t be happier.

Applied and accepted to: Baylor, Texas State, and West Texas A&M (hometown school, haha.)

Major: Corporate Communications in the Communications School

Congrats to all of those who have gotten in, and good luck to those who haven’t yet heard, or are on the wait list/ planning to take the CAP route. Hope to be in the same graduating class as all of you in a few short years!

Got accepted OOS to School of Undergraduate studies! Oddjob, I’m in the same position as you. If I can’t know for sure that I’ll be able to get into Cockrell when I attend UT, I will have to consider going to another school. UT is my top choice, but if I can’t pursue my dream major, then I may have to look elsewhere :(.
