Yea it sucks. But I did get accepted to Smeal (the business college) at Penn State so it makes it extra tough. I don’t want to go to Texas for a year not get into the internal transfer and have to transfer to Penn State. Much cheaper for Penn State too (im instate). So its gonna be a tough decision. Funny thing is I know someone at my school who did the exact opposite. Didn’t get into Smeal but got into McCombs.

Accepted in-state to second choice major: Cockrell School of Engineering - Electr. Eng
ACT: 32
GPA: 3.85 W, ~3.6 UW
SAT/II’s: Didn’t submit
Non-ranking, Catholic HS
Honors: Nat’l Merit Commended, Nat’l Hispanic Finalist
EC’s: Not great, a couple sub-varsity sports, a couple clubs related to my first choice major, NHS, two summer mission trips, hosted an exchange student, perfect attendance

And the weirdest part, (and the reason I came out of the shadows)… my first choice major was in the CNS. Yes, you hear me, I got deffered from CNS and accepted into Cockrell. I’m confused to say the least. I was 100% set on my first choice and I applied to Dean’s honors and Turing scholars honors. I assume it would be easy to transfer down? Are they still considering me for the honors programs? Any ideas on why this anomaly occured?

65-70 percent chance that I might go. I don’t know what to do, my best friend and I were planning to go to the same school and continue our band that we have going. Our dream school was UT, I got in but he didn’t. I don’t know if I should go to my top school or go to a lesser school but stay with my friend. I guess it depends on what the schools are like when I go visit them.

Anyone still waiting to hear, don’t panic yet. I found out I was rejected last night. An early response does not necessarily equal good response. At least you still have hope.
