UT Admission Chances?

Chance me for UT and honors programs?

Asian girl from Texas interested in pre-med. Applied to BHP as my first choice and Dean Scholar's Natural Sciences as second choice.

GPA: 3.5 (when applied) 3.679 (by mid-year report)
Rank: School does not rank
All college dual-credit courses

SAT: 2330; 750 (Critical Reading) 800 (Math) 780 (Writing)
SAT II: 800 (Math II) 760 (Biology)
ACT: 35; 33 (English), 36 (Math), 36 (Reading), 34 (Science), 8 (Essay)

Medium-strong extracurriculars, recommendations, and essays

I'm actually beginning to be really worried about being admitted into UT since I had an awful GPA during my junior year. Do I have no chance with BHP or would it help me if I changed my first choice major to a Natural Science major instead?

Thanks!

Your SAT/ACT scores are great. I feel like you have a chance.

Thanks, but what about for the honors programs?

Maybe instead of Dean’s Scholars, they will put you in Health Science Honors, since you are interested in premed. Both honors programs are very tough to get into, however.

I applied for the BHP as well and found out I was accepted in November. You have better stats than I do (I had a 2160 SAT and 31 ACT), so thats good news for you. The only thing I would look into is your extracurriculars, which you did not list. While I was applying the BHP stressed participating in lots of strong leadership positions. Test scores are good for making sure you can handle the work provided for you but once you reach a certain score, everyone above that mark is smart and can handle the work. That is when you need something to distinguish you from everyone else and what the BHP focuses on for that distinguishing factor is, among other things of course, your involvement in leadership activities.
