how is ut for pre med? and would chemical engineering be a good choice for pre med? thanks

Chemical engineering is a pretty good major in general so it would fit, but i think most people just opt for biology.

biomedical engineering and physics majors score best on mcats.

sweet really? I’m transferring in the fall to BME (sucks it had to be right as they quit doing spring entrances into the program). So, are you speaking from experience? I’m guessing you are majoring in one of the two?

Whew, for a minute there, I thought pierrechn was back! I didn’t notice his post was from March, 2010.

Personally, I would not do premed at UT if I could go back in time. I am a Dean’s Scholars premed freshmen, and after this year I have lost almost any dreams and hope I had of becoming a doctor. However, I will tell you that they are many people in DS who like doing premed at UT. The average GPA for a college of natural sciences freshmen was a 2.6 last year. It was the same with engineering. However, premed is harder because very few people get into medical school while everybody from UT’s Cockrell School of Engineering gets a job.

^The average gpa and mcat for a UT student to be admitted into medical school is 3.58 and 31. I saw in another thread that your current GPA IS 3.7+. I don’t see how you can’t get into medical school.

Actually the average gpa is a 3.68, and it is only getting higher.

My GPA is going down dramatically this semester.
