<p>Please help me! I'm really having to make a big decision regarding school! Mostly due to finances anyway here is my problem. The plan was to attend UH as I got into their Honors College and wanted to double major in Biology and Business however money is a big issue as my financial aid was just 5,500 dollars in Loans... The other option I have is attend the local UTPA for one year which is way cheaper and then transfer to UT or UH but I have to go through the whole process.. And at UTPA I got WAY more aid.. Please help me! All opinions welcome!! </p>
<p>I feel for you. I’m from McAllen & believe me having been at UTPA before I did NOT want to go to UTPA. If you can at all avoid it GO to the Honors College at UH. They have an excellent Honors College. If you graduate with honors from there it should open a LOT of doors for you. I think that would be worth the added cost. The only negative, IMO, is having to live in Houston, but that’s just my opinion. Good luck, but if I were you I’d try to stay out of UTPA. If you are planning on simply getting your core/basics in the RGV inexpensively, then I would strongly suggest you attend STC instead of UTPA, it’s way cheaper than UTPA & you could join the honors program there (as I did), join Phi Theta Kappa & have that open doors for you. That’s the route I took. I will be startng at the Honors College at Texas Tech University in August. Good luck!</p>
