I got accepted with a nice scholarship to UTA. I was really impressed with the computer science department and loved DFW but when I visited the campus, it feels kind of dead. I know it’s a bit of a commuter school but i was curious if the campus is lively usually. I visited on a Saturday so maybe everyone was off campus lol
UTA is a large school and if you had been there Monday thru Friday there would have been lots of students. I have seen this at many universities, including UT. I spent many Saturdays down at UT’s swim center and saw no students around. On the weekends, the students are in their dorms or around town, they are not where their classes are. My DD is at UTD and it is the same thing there, campus looks deserted over the weekend but 6000 students live on campus. She is always busy on the weekends. It would be easier if you could take a car because Arlington does not have great public transportation but there is alot of things to do in that area. Don’t let that deter you from a good school with a nice scholarship in a fun area.
@rispoli I sorta answered your question in another thread you created. My cousin attends UTA so I been to visit her.
The weekend is why it seemed dead. Most students tend to get away from campus on the weekends to visit friends/family, take care of personal errands, or just have fun in DFW.
And UTA is actually almost completed with two brand new dorms so campus life should be even more lively with an extra 1,000 or so students living on campus
thanks for the responses guys!
