UT Austin 2011/12 Transfer Guide

It seems as if the rumors were true. May is such a long way away, though. :</p>

“Some decisions will be released in March and April. The majority will be released in late May.”
lol. It would actually make sense that the OOS transfers, like the Penn guy, would be accepted a little sooner.
Late May? So I’m guessing there going to wait for updated transcripts before making decisions for most people. Don’t slack off this semester!

If you already have all prereqs completed and the transferable hours necessary to transfer then expect a decision by late April at pretty much the latest.

If you don’t have all the hours or prereqs completed then expect to wait until May.

Historically OOS, internationals, and those needing to send in their spring transcripts have been notified in May, while most of all others have been notified by April.

Has anyone received an email from admissions and the financial aid offices about applying for transfer scholarships this week?

I did and my application is almost complete. Pretty good timing for us considering the fall 2011 transfer scholarship is a brand new deal.

I did and Im almost done with it as well. Good luck everyone :)

@ praxis major and Inmotion12
Hey did your GPA change from what you had submitted? When I began the scholarship application it supplied information about me from UT that I could not change because it was from the school’s records, but it had that I had a 3.90 GPA. I’m guessing that this is my GPA including only the hours I could transfer?
If so I hope that helps my chances.
Good luck everyone :)

@cherrybomb82 Mine changed … it went as well b/c they are not taking two of my courses from ACC. I dont need the classes and they are both B’s so it helped alot!

Mine went from 3.93 to 3.95.

Yeah it made my 3.78 jump, I think it was a few remedials I completed freshman year which I got B’s in. My grades for classes that actually counted were all a’s and only 2 b’s, so thats good. My GPA looks even better  It gives me hope.

wait. what transfer scholarship?

I received that email as well, and am finishing up my application for it. Do you all know what specific name to put down since it’s one of the “other” scholarships we can apply for? Just Transfer Scholarship? Good luck, everyone!

Has anyone called recently just to hear if there’s anything different? Also, would it depend on the major?

The most up to date information will be posted on the website. The links above are to UT Scholarship pages, not just conversation threads.

I thought this was relevant, so check it out guys.

It looks like most applicants for the more competitive majors (business, communications, engineering) will get decisions after they “know the qualifications of the entire pool of applicants.” So most people will find out in late May. Good luck everyone!

Any news from COLA?

One of my friends who has less than 30 credits got told that he needs to submit his final grades from this semester before a decision can be rendered.

How exactly do you transfer? Can someone tell me the process?

I’m a senior in high school possibly going to UT Austin next year. But Iv always wanted to go to Columbia university or the university of Chicago. I was thinking about transferring after 1st semester (if that’s even possible) or transferring after one year. How do I transfer and what materials do I need and what should I know before hand? Do I still need my ACT and SAT scores?

@Godric, that’s true. They will not look at one’s transcript unless there is 30 transferable hours. So a Spring transcript is required. By “any news from COLA” I assume you are asking if applicants find out earlier than late May. If you check earlier threads from previous years, people have been accepted/rejected in mid-April.

@Jsea, are you asking how to transfer in or out of UT? Here’s an idea, why don’t you check the transfer website. It’s not online just for show and spells out everything you need to do. And there are probably similar transfer sites for Columbia and Chicago that probably tell you exactly what you need to do. You do realize that you’re going to need amazing stats for those schools, yeah?

^ yea im looking into transfering out of UT Austin after a year.Lol and yea i know i need amazing stats. That’s why I’m going to do my best and try my hardest to stay focussed while in college.
