UT Austin 2011/12 Transfer Guide

It’s a little late, but I got accepted to the College of Natural Sciences (computer science) last thursday.
School: Junior college in California
GPA: 3.57
Classes: about 53 units and currently completing calc III and some general ed courses
Didn’t have much EC’s, just daily trips to the bball gym lol
I feel like my essays had a great role in my acceptance.

It feels great to know I’ll be cheering my favorite college team and living in a city like Austin…congrats to all that got accepted and best of luck to those still waiting, just happy the stress is relieved.

Will it help that I am trying to transfer from a four year university opposed to a CC?

lauren0925: UT doesn’t care where you transfer from. I mean, I got into McCombs from a CC. It’s all about GPA.

Is the resume as important as the GPA?

your resume is important b/c it explains more about you … for me it helped show that i am married and a mom so my “EC” are all about my daughter . Also that I worked and was in the military. All of these thing make my application look very different in some aspects than other applicants.

But you GPA is more important to get you “in to door” so to speak

@moniso I’m from Mexico too and no word from UT yet. I’m guessing it’s because I haven’t completed my hours yet and they’re waiting for my updated transcript? Who knows…
If I know anything important I’ll let you know ;)

Suerte

Is it likely that I will be able to get into COLA undeclared with a 3.45?

accepted into my first choice major!!! Will they let you know if you got accepted to your second choice?
If it helps anyone I sent in my transcript/application on the very last day (march 1)

“Congratulations! You have been admitted to your second-choice major in the College Of Liberal Arts ( Latin American Studies ) at UT Austin. Discover more about your admission and find out what to do next to begin your Longhorn experience.”
GPA: 3.51

I’m glad I finally heard back, but I’m a little disappointed about not getting my first choice(Advertising) although I knew it probably wasn’t going to happen. If I finish this semester with all A’s my GPA will come up to a 3.7. Does anyone know if I can appeal in this type of situation. Then again I would’ve had pass an intro class to stay in the advertising program, which I’ll be taking anyway for my internal transfer to ADV. So on the bright side, I will pay a slightly lower COLA tuition my first year before transferring to Communications.

what am I ranting about. I AM IN!!! Good Luck everyone!

So was kusumuthram just bsing about the 3.5 GPA rule for having your decision appealed? If so I guess its not even worth it.

Accepted Undergraduates Undecided!
GPA: 3.7

Lets hope I hear something about RTF soon! :D

Congrats Dark. May I ask what is RTF?

Radio-Television-Film

I’m just happy I got accepted, I’m finally going!

Congrats, DarkRyder and Whale!

@police RadioTelevisionFilm
@dark Undecided was your second choice right? Or is RTF a whole nother application that your still waiting for?
@jchap I wouldn’t take anything that person said seriously, but what are you referring to in particular?
@Whaleinthesky I think you only get admitted to one.

@ozzy906: Yeah it was my second choice

no one has heard from Bio medical Engineering yet? My brother applied for BME 1st choice and Petro 2nd choice, still waiting for the decision. 3.93 gpa :(

Congrats Darkryder and Ozzy!!! So glad you’re in. The hard parts over you can always transfer after a semester in undergraduates. I heard its even easier to transfer internally since you are already with UT. Hope to see you on campus
Congrats Whaleinthesky

3.43 at TCU. Undecided liberal arts. lots of extracurriculars. Diverse, challenging classes. chance me.

@cherrybomb: Should I call and check if there’s anything about RTF, or, since I got my second-choice, did I not get in?
