No, my second choice was School Of Undergraduate Studies (undeclared). I picked a School that was new and not too many go into, for my chances to be greater. People change majors all the time. I just needed to get in :D

What if you were undeclared prepharm? Is that still undeclared?

Hi, everyone, congs to these who got accepted.
I just got rejection from UT. So sad. And I’m so confused. I will get 43 hour after this semester, 4.0 GPA at UT Arlington, 3.6 GPA at San Antonio College. I don’t have strong essays, but do have good resume. And my high school GPA is 3.7, ranked 10/53. I thought that would be fine.
My first major is Business, and second is Natural Science. The only thing I had missed is the IELTS score. I’m an international student and made 6.0 on last IELTS test. UT is requiring 6.5. I retook the test last week and the score will be released next Friday and I think the new one should be satisfy the requirement. Do you guys think I should call the admission office to explain that. Is that anymore chance to be accepted?

i think u should call, u wont lose anything and might get ur app reviewed again.

i am an intl transfer to, how where u notified of your rejection??

normally it’s easier for international students to get in, I am very surprised that you didn’t even get into your second choice. So I guess your rejection might be due to the IELTS thing (is it an alternate of TOEFL?) Call them and ask them for details and you might be able to appeal decision once you got your IELTS result (if it meets their requirement)

@mixter: That is NOT true. In 2009, less than 5% of all transfer applicants who applied to McCombs were accepted. Being an international applicant equates to having a difficult admission process.

@dl23628: It’s very tough for transfers (especially into McCombs). Go to the external transfer tab on the following website to see all the admission stats of earlier years.

@bombazo, it’s on the status page. <a href=“Sign in with your UT EID - Stale Request”>Sign in with your UT EID - Stale Request;
my app was under view and last night the status just suddenly change to “After careful review of applications from a highly-competitive pool of applicants, we are not able to offer you admission.blabla…”

@mixter, actually it’s difficult to international student to get in. but I think you’re right, I should call. The IELTS is kind of like TOELF, the rejection might cause of the IELTS score. I’ll give them a call on Monday to see how to work it out. Thanks.

@JammyD, thanks! That page is what I’m looking for for a long time! Though I already got rejection, it’s really useful. I’m looking through it now.

You guys are right. I never thought that it’s so freaking hard for international students to transfer into McCombs (5% does beat Harvard & Yale. holy crap! just compare it with 20%+ rate of TX residents)

I was under the impression that public schools (i.e the UCs) admit more international students since they need money.

Still, considering that UT admission rate is usually over 40% and your second choice is in the College of Natural Sciences which, with COLA, are two large (and easier to get in) schools at UT. I would still be surprised if you are not even admitted to your second choice. Good luck with your appeal!

i know McCombs is very competitive for all type of transfers. i saw some statistics and only 13 internationals got accepted from about 250 applicants ( and only 4 of those from Unis overseas). the mean GPA was 3.93 or something like that.

I was applying to McCombs as my first choice major but i like econ better, so i changed it. i guess the change increased my chances :)

good luck to all.

which school is the hardest one to transfer into? is it Cocrell or McCombs? which one has the highest rejection rate??

@blazingflash - Hmm, weird. My bro just got rejected my COLA (economics) with a 3.4+

McCombs i believe

Accepted to radio film and television

Gosh I’m shaking !!! I’ve just found out !!

I got in!!! I’m still in shock right now… I can’t believe it!!
Admitted to McCombs. I’m an international out of state (California) transfer. I know the chances of getting admitted were almost close to zero so I am in shock right now…

best of luck to everyone else!!!

Congrats uuinus and moniso! What were your stats?

Anyone else realize how popular this thread has gotten? Almost 30 THOUSAND views!

Congratulations, uuinus and moniso! Maybe we’ll see each other at orientation!
