I have just been rejected by UT as a transfer undergraduate and would like to appeal. The thing is my GPA on the letter was reported to be 3.1 and this is before this current semester. At the end of this semester I’ll have a 3.7 GPA. The deadline for appeals is May 1st and my semester doesn’t end until May 12th. That’s the earliest I can send in an updated transcript. Ahhhh

about how long does it take to hear back when your status changes from “all items were received” to “we’re currently reviewing your application”? I know this isn’t an exact science, but can someone give me a ballpark estimate. Or, for those who were admitted or rejected, how long it took you to hear.

@ca199538 I actually just called someone today at the admissions office and they said there really isn’t a deadline to that…it sounded like a kid though so I’m not sure if I trust that. He told me if I just waited until my final grades were in and sent them with a letter than the appeal committee would look at it. Have you heard differently from someone?

I hope that my increase in GPA will be enough for Economics.

Hmm well I called the office first and the lady told me I could just send in a letter and also my updated transcript. She never mentioned a deadline. I found out by looking at the site. Ah well I’ll call back tomorrow and make sure.

@ca199538
Yeah on the site that deadline is for Freshman Admissions which get their decisions much quicker than we do. I couldn’t find anything for Transfer Appeals though.

International Californian CC Applicant.
Major: Biz Admin.
GPA: 4.0
I did not take the SAT. My TOEFL was 113. I took it in 2008. English is my native language so I never retook it… had a whole “fiasco” with UT over it too (They refused to grant me a waiver because English is not the only-official language of my country; We have 4 official languages. But English is the primary language of both instruction and communication); I had to call, email and beg admissions to let me submit my 2008 one.

My recommendation letter was from my Accounting professor (I took him for 1 year.) It was probably as good as any recommendation letter was going to get. Seriously. He mentioned that “* was superior to every single student he taught this year.” and mentioned that I achieved “perfection” in his classes etc. I almost cried!

At the time of application, I did not finish Calculus II according to the indicator courses. I have now completed it.

My essays were extremely strong. One of them was extremely personal to me (so personal that my family never even knew about it… and when they did (after reading the essay), they were shocked.) and I think that that might have been the reason why I was admitted.

My resume is strong, but I do not have relevant work experience in business. I have A LOT of leadership positions, and tons of volunteer hours (~500h). I have won international competitions as well. (Flown into another country to meet a royal for the award ceremony.) I was admitted to UCLA [Pre-Biz Econ] and UCI [Paul Merage] as well, but I have been rejected by Cal [Haas] and I was waitlisted at UVA [McIntire]. Nothing I can do about that now :)

I hope this information helps whoever who needs it. Good luck and all the best to everyone! :)

Hey Guys I have a question. I was accepted about two weeks ago but I haven’t received anything from UT saying now I can apply for housing. I activated and payed for my profile but i havent heard anything. how long does it usually take? does it mean that there is no more space?

You should be able to apply for housing already, actually since the day you submitted your app. Just go to UT Austin Residential Living or UT Austin (use google) and you should be able to apply there

When will people who are hitting 30 hours at the end of this semester start hearing from admissions??? Finals are starting for most people within the next two weeks

Hey guys!
I just checked my UT status and was accepted to the College of Communications for Corporate Communications studies. I’m so happy, as I was getting worried that I had yet to find out and most people here had already received their acceptance letters.

But just in case there some of you who still haven’t found out, here are my stats:

1) Current College: Northeastern University (Boston)
2) Current GPA: 3.27, (3.36 when calculated with UT’s formula)
4) Major for UT transfer: College of Communications: Corporate Communications
6) Hours completed: 72 hours
7) Supplemental: Included a strong resume, very strong essays, and a recommendation letter from one of my magazine writing professors from Northeastern who is also a freelancer for the Boston Globe Sunday Magazine.
8) Extracurricular: Completed (2) 3-6 month internships in field. (Marketing communications for T. Rowe Price and Editorial Assistant for a Business magazine), Wrote for university’s music magazine, Deans Scholar at Northeastern

Good luck to everyone who has yet to hear back, and I look forward to starting the fall semester with those accepted!

Quick Question: how do you find out exactly which classes transferred in? or is that something that i won’t find out until i receive my acceptance packet in the mail?

*morganem I am a freshman applying for transfer to the liberal arts college and I have a 3.35 GPA. May I just say thanks for posting your stats. I have been sort of down lately because I have strong everything else except for my GPA. But your stats gave me some hope. So thanks for giving me some hope. =D

Congratulations morganem! You’re the only other junior transfer from the northeast on this board haha (Philly here).

When you go to the Interactive Degree Audit page, it should have a list of courses you took at your previous school with the respective grades and the word “transfer”. That’s what I have and I believe that means my courses have transferred but I’m not entirely sure if this is the correct way. I also took 70+ credits and according to that website, all of my credits transferred (hopefully).
