I started my college life at Baylor. My parents forced me to study BIology and due to lack of interest I had a 2.25 GPA after 1.5 years and 37 hours. Then I transferred in to University of Houston studying English/History and now have a 3.868 GPA-the 3.868 is out of 15 hours and I will probably get to a 3.9 with the completion of my spring classes brining my total hours at U of Houston to 24. I am active in an History honors society, a chess club, and a film club and a few humanitarian organizations. I have written solid essays. DO I stand a chance in getting in as a double History/English major or either? What about A & M?

I am currently at Texas Tech hoping to transfer for fall 2012. I have a 3.41 GPA with 60 hours from cc and 14 from Tech. I want to transfer into the college of natural science to major in computer science. what do you guys think my chances are?

1) Current College: A branch of Texas A&M
2) Current GPA: 3.548
3) Probable total GPA after Spring Semester (in May): not quite sure
4) First Choice Major/College: Computer Science (Entry-level)
5) Second Choice Major/College: Undergraduate Studies
6) Courses completed: 42 total hours, although I’m worried about not taking Calculus here. I’m taking Pre-Calculus at the moment. Is this going to be a big issue?
7) Extracurricular Activities/Recommendations/Essays: I have some activities from high school (about 5 extracurricular). I don’t know if it matters that I graduated in three years (probably not). I have one recommendation letter. My essays are okay. I’ve also been working as a math and science tutor for about 6 months already. I don’t know if that will help much?
I thought I’d post this information here because I’m extremely worried already. Are my chances slim?

1) Current College: Antelope Valley College, Cerro Coso Community College (both JCs in California)
2) Current GPA: 3.697
3) Probable total GPA after Spring Semester (in May): Not attending
4) First Choice Major/College: English/COLA
5) Second Choice Major/College: Biology/Natural Sciences
6) Courses completed: 43 total hours = 37 at AVC + 6 at Cerro Coso // MATH 140 (Pre-calculus), BUS 101, MUS 131, HD 105, POLI 101, BIOL 101, ENGL 101, FREN 101, THA 110, PHIL 106, HIST 131, HIST 132 – I followed the IGETC transfer agreement to get into UCs while I lived in California, but some of the classes I took aren’t on there… but I think all of the courses I took are transferable
7)Extracurricular Activities/Recommendations/Essays: ASB (Associated Student Body)/1 good one, 2 pending/I think they’re straight
8) Anything else useful: I lived in Plano, TX, all my life, but moved to California in 2007. Moved back to Texas in 2011, and taking the semester off so I don’t have to deal with OOS tuition anywhere. Also, I put on my application that my dad owns and has been paying taxes for his business here in Texas since 1991, so maybe that’ll be an exception to residency

I’m applying for an easy major, and I think my credentials are good enough to get in… at least I hope I’m waiting to get my essays proofread by my dad and couple of other more people, and then I will submit my applications

spencerNcollege- Thanks for letting us know that you called and it’s OK, but what about submitting our resumes? We can’t do that until the application has been processed on UT’s site. Will that be a problem?

Shanzy for fee wavier you have to fax them a copy of your tax Papers or financial aid letter for 2012 :). You have to do it as soon as possible. Try to send it today or Tommrow.

Belac4: I faxed my resume, sent my letters of rec, and my transcript all before I submitted my applytx app. UT received my applytx app the same day I submitted it, even though applytx said they would send it in the next two days (this isn’t a problem anyway because the operator said as long as you submitted before the deadline, it does not matter when it arrives). So now that my applytx app had been submitted, I got a mystatus page. Back to the resume, I faxed it yesterday and on my mystatus page it said it had still not arrived so I just called in and asked about it, they told me they have it and it would show up soon. To answer your question, just send it in, it does not matter.

WCvolvo: Who was your comp prof? that was my only B too. I’m applying to McCombs.

So I didn’t submit my application until today and can’t submit my resume now because it’s not going to process. So basically I paid $75 for nothing. Any ideas?

WCvolvo: yikes. I am taking her for comp II and made an 85 on my first paper. I am going to ask her what I need to do to make an A in her class after she returns our second paper. It was an in-class essay and I probably made another B. Maybe if I ask her what she wants early enough I can get an A, unlike in my comp class last semester where I waited until I had three Bs under my belt to step my game up. I had John Lee last semester.

Was there anybody in your class who made an A?
