Hi all

Iā€™m a student at UTEP looking to get into UTā€™s RTF program. Rn I have 63 Credits, 4.0 GPA (3.56 GPA at EPCC under Dual Credit and 4.06 for High School), good amount of ECs e.g. ROTC, Honors Program, a lot of stuff from high school. No LORs rn but Iā€™ll get a solid 1 or 2 by Mar. 1st. I work at my local NPR station so hopefully that looks good too. My essays mild to strong. If yall could add me to the list or give me any additional insight, Iā€™d appreciate it.

@Thompson2688 I was able to get in touch with an advisor and will do an academic fresh start and those failing grades are old enough to not be considered for admission!

@awesomesaucee I got in touch with an advisor and she said that I am eligible for fresh start! Woo hoo!

You can add good essays as well to mine and remove the question mark from my GPA as I will invoke fresh start and have a 3.7 GPA.

@OGmandyV Thatā€™s amazing!! That will definitely help.

Well rip I tried to help but failedā€¦ my b :expressionless:

@OGmandyV Thatā€™s great to hear! Iā€™m happy for you. I made the changes in my logs and you should see them the next time I post the list.

@rtfhopeful I added you to the list

@Thompson2688 It was a nice thought :-j I think you can leave the list to me because I have all the fancy formatting saved in my google docs

Could I ask how you are chanced? How are the transfer applicants evaluated? Iā€™m still reading through the plethora of posts here! :0) Thanks!

@awesomesaucee @Thompson2688 or anyone else have some insight! Thank you?

@OGmandyV Since your previous college experience will be waived, meaning you will have a 3.7, you have a pretty good shot. COLA doesnā€™t require as high of a GPA as business or engineering. I know the average is from about a 3.4 to a 3.6, but it honestly will depend on space. Some people get in with a 3.33, others get declined with a 3.6. I worked very hard on my essays and made sure my resume would stand out since my GPA is not as high as other applicants. However since your GPA is a 3.7 you shouldnā€™t have to worry so much about the other items.

@thompson2688 Thank you for the encouragement and speedy response. I didnā€™t mean to bother you or make you give me any info right now! Thank you again!

@OGmandyV I agree with Thompson, your GPA makes you competitive for Communications. You have a good shot!

Does anyone know if it is possible/likely to gain admission before the semester ends and then get denied when you send your final transcript in? (What GPA would it take for that to happen if applying to COLA or a more competitive college like Mccombs/Cockrell)

Hi guys!
I am currently a freshman at a community college in the Dallas area.
I have a 4.0 GPA and have completed 31 hours (including AP credits) and will have 45 by the end of this semester. I only took 14 hours each semester because I was trying to be at home a bit more often for my mother who fell sick my senior year of high school, which is why I decided to stay home for my first year of college.
I was on the presidents list last semester and am a part of the student government at my college and phi theta kappa, but not much else. In high school I was on yearbook staff for all 4 years and was organizational editor and also did most of the live tweeting during the football games. I was also in varsity orchestra for all four years of HS and was the PR manager for the orch. I also was co-founder and historian of the first ever multicultural club at my hs. I have 2 LORs and I am applying for COLA international relations. My essays were ok, although Iā€™ve always found it hard writing about myself, give me a story to write and I could do it in my sleep lol. Could someone please add me to the list??

Also does anyone know what it means when MyStatus says that my application is complete, but is still says ā€œrecommended: 1 thingā€? Also does anyone know if AP credits count towards overall hours? MyStatus isnā€™t saying that I need to send in my spring transcript for the application to be complete, whereas one of my friends looking to transfer to UT from a&m has the message regarding the spring transcript to complete the application.
Sorry for posting such a long comment! Good luck to everyone and I hope that we all get in!

@whomstve mine also says complete and one thing recommended. If you have the hours then they donā€™t need to see this semester transcript to give you a decision. So Iā€™m sure your friend doesnā€™t have enough hours so they wait until June to get this semesters transcript before they send out a decision. I have AP hours in my transcript as well and they accept them.

hey @colanxgirl thanks for the help!

@whomstve If your transcript shows the actual classes (with course number) you get credit for as your Apā€™s, then yes they count towards admission. My daughters transcript shows 26 Ap credits but her college does not list the classes they are counted on her official transcript (only her unofficial). So because of that we have to wait until spring semester grades are entered. She originally had the ā€œyour application is completeā€ and it lasted like that for about a month, then it switched to ā€œcomplete except for the required 24 creditsā€ (and telling us to send the spring semester when available). As far as your recommend item, you can go in and see it. My daughter has that as well, but the 1 item is a LOR from her Bio teacher

@whomstve added you to the list buddy.

Just submitted my resume. Now my app says that it is complete! I have way more than 30 credits so Iā€™m hoping for a decision to come out sooner.
