UT austin 2017/2018 Transfer Thread

i have 32 hours on the transcript that i sent to UT, however, mystatus says i have not met the requirement of having 24 transferable credit hours. i asked admissions and they said it probably hasn’t been evaluated yet. anyone else have the same issue?

@ZiuallahK it happened to me too, took about 2 days and then it was fixed.

@colanxgirl the thing is, mine has been like this for almost a week now.

@ZiuallahK I would call again tomorrow and ask because when I called she told me wait a week and if it didn’t change then to call them back.

@colanxgirl alright sounds good, thanks!

No problem @Thompson2688. I shouldn’t have jumped to conclusions about your intentions. I know you’re trying to help and encourage us all!

@ZiuallahK I should have mentioned before that your transcript has to have Class codes for all of your hours or they don’t accept them.

Hey, I am applying to CNS from a Community College. I have a 4.0 on 30 completed credit hours, as of January 2018. I think my GPA will drop to a 3.91 after this semester since Biology 2 is not going too well. I would appreciate if anyone could chance me! I would enter UT with at least 45 credit hours since graduation in June 2017, without taking into account my Spanish AP credits. @awesomesaucee , feel free to add me to your list! You rock for making that.

1st Choice Major: Biology
2nd Choice Major: Biochemistry

Essays: 7/10, not really a passionate writer.

Recommendation Letter: 1 from a UT Alumnus, 1 from a colleague at work (I have a pretty impressive position as a student, I work in healthcare), and 1 from a biology professor.

Extracurriculars/Resume - Outstanding, lots of work in clinical sites, 600+ community service hours, work in humanitarian and special education services.

Concerns: I wasn’t brilliant in high school. I was an A- student at a large Texas high school. Does anyone know if admissions will look at Spring semester grades? Should I send in my AP credits now??

@ZiuallahK @colanxgirl is right. If your transcripts include AP credits, but the individual classes aren’t listed, they won’t accept them until after admitted. The actual courses have to appear on the transcript

@stoppingtheworld I added you to the list!

They will look at spring semester grades if you send them, but you should have your decision by the time you finish your spring classes. I believe they will only use your spring grades to evaluate credit for classes when transferring and won’t affect your admission’s decision.

As for AP credits, they won’t factor that into your admissions decision, so there is no point in sending them. They will only look at them if you get accepted, in which case they will use them to give you credit for courses. UT only looks at AP credit that is listed on your college transcript and was accepted by the school you currently attend. If it’s not listed on the transcript, they won’t know you have credit for that course.

@awesomesaucee Quick question. When I requested my transcripts from CC, they asked me to give them the ok to release my spring grades as well. Will those be seen as the letter grades they were, or will it just show that they are in progress? Someone might have already answered this I wasn’t able to find it

Hello to you all. I hope everyone here is doing great and hopefully you’ll receive the news on being accepted into UT Austin. I currently attend UT Austin and this is my first and unfortunately will be my last semester here. I’ve currently signed a lease at the Rio West apartments located in West Campus off 2704 Rio Grande St, Austin Texas, 78705. The room you would be staying is a 4 bed 4 bath apartment and you will be roommate matched with other people. Monthly rent is $699 and that includes cable and internet. You will have to pay for electricity and water. There is no hidden fees associated with picking up the lease except for paying the security deposit which is $100 and do have the option to pay that at any time. Move in date for this apartment is 08/18/2018. Thanks and if anyone is interested, let me know. Have a great day!

Does anyone have an idea how soon decisions were released last year? I saw a list some time ago with those who were accepted/rejected from the last cycle.

@Thompson2688 Obviously it varies from CC, so I can’t be 100% sure, but I would believe the transcript would list them as in progress instead of a letter grade if you haven’t completed the class yet. However, even if it does list the letter grades as they were when you requested, the admissions staff would know this considering we are currently in the spring semester and their is no way you could have finished your classes by now. Is it possible to request a transcript for yourself to view?

@stoppingtheworld Last year, decisions were starting to be released around April 15th with those who had 30+ hours. Your decision time will vary based on the school you are applying to

Depends how good you are, the best ones get accepted the earliest. Which would be mid april

@utcshopeful hmm, I wouldn’t say this is confirmed though. Their were 4.0s last year who were accepted in mid to late may last year

@utcshopeful I don’t think that’s necessarily how it goes. It depends on if you have the required hours completed or not. If you have less than 24, then you will have to send in your spring transcripts. Meaning you will not know your decision until June. The college your applying to matters to. I’ve seen more COLA people get denied or acceded earlier than the college of geo-sciences.

@Thompson2688 Yes I’m sorry, assuming only the people who have above 24, but remember its not just the 4.0 gpa its about what classes have u taken. Making sure you have all your calc and science courses done, then it also matters about how many credit hours you have. If you have above 60 then it hurts you a little bit and above 70 it really hurts you. I have talked to admissions about this, its not just the 4.0 but what the 4.0 contains. Then also if you happened to write good essays and not following the same “change the world” cliche that all the cs majors are known for. But everyone one of y’all for computer science looks really good anyway so I would not worry. Tbh i should be worried not y’all. Because I still do not know if my essays were good or not.

sorry if that came across really mean lol, but trust me all of y’all seem really strong anyway except idk about me

@tigger68 @colanxgirl the class codes show up on my transcript. it’ still like this. calling again today
