UT austin 2017/2018 Transfer Thread

@maib121 On the list, mine is showing with the 15 credit hours I am currently enrolled in.

Mine is showing my hours after this semester but I have 40 that they will make the decision with. I’m taking 15 this semester.

Yeah @awesomesaucee I currently have 28 hours, but am enrolled for 16. So… Idk if you want to just leave it at 42 or put it at 28 since they will only be looking at the 28 hours, unless I get denied (knock on wood) and appeal with my spring grades (knock on wood). Oh and can you change it to 5 recommendation letters? Thank you so much, again and again @awesomesaucee for keeping this list!

@awesomesaucee can I join the list too?

@stoppingtheworld @colanxgirl @Thompson2688 Sorry guys, I guess I didn’t really think about it when I was putting the numbers in. I’ll change your hours to reflect only the semester you have completed. I think ill go back through all the posts and make sure everyone else’s is correct also…

I also fixed your LOR Thompson

@hayyu88 For sure  I found your stats and ill add them to the list

Thanks for doing the list @awesomesaucee

@colanxgirl No problem. I spend so much of my time on this thread anyway :))

Does anyone know how UT looks at your GPA? So I took a lot of Dual Credit in HS and I did pretty good except for a couple classes, but my actual university GPA is spot on. When I did my scholarship supplemental app, it combined both GPA’s. Does anyone know how UT will weigh my GPA considering one isn’t “technically” during my university career?

For external transfers, UT combines both dual credit and University earned grades together.

Sadly they weigh them the same regardless of when you took it.

I was also told that UT doesn’t take into consideration the college from which you are applying from.

For example, a 4.0 from a community college would rank higher than a 3.7 from Rice University.

A gpa is a gpa to UT Austin.

There’s apparently no real objective way to take into consideration a schools reputation with the large volume of applicants UT receives.

You could argue that the same class at say Texas A&M, would be more rigirous and demanding than the same course at Austin Community College but sadly, there’s no definite way to prove that.

Yep, I’m pretty sure they just go through all the apps and plug all the GPA’s into a graph. The essays and ECs are probably only closely look at for those that are right around the cut-off mark. There is just no other way to go through 8000 transfer applications in 1-2 months

Here are my Stats as well

Major: Computer Science
College GPA: 3.85
Hours: 59
ECs: alright
Essays: 1 good 1 alright
LORs: 4

and is anyone in review yet?

@CleanShoes added you to the list.

I don’t think anyone is in review yet but I have high hopes for going into review on monday. This seems the longest time to go into review compared to the previous years.

Mine went into review this morning! Time to pray!
