Hello guys! I guess as most of you future longhorns, Im exited to attend this really great school time to meet new people and accomplish several personal goals like obtaining a degree. However there is something that has been keeping me up at night and that it is: Where is the best place to live?

I know dorms are a great choice but I wanted to know what are other options that perhaps you could advice me or any one that visits this thread. Please let me know where are the best apartments, what are the prices, what are the requirements, or any type of past experiences that can lead to a good (or bad) recommendation.

There is apartments all around the campus… I looked on Trulia.com and found some I like. I emailed two of the realtors that work that area as well and they sent me a list of apartments… If you are from out of town I would recommend trying that seeing as their services are free ( the property owners pay them to market and show that places)

Ahh, I’m trying to figure out the exact same thing! I would be transferring to UT as my 3rd year in college and I really don’t want to be stuck with freshmen at the dorms. Also, I heard it’s quite expensive compared to apartments around campus. My cousin currently lives at these apartments called Hemphill Park? I went to visit and it was nice for what it was, but expensive! I’m trying to find apartments near the College of Natural Sciences. :/

I figured that I would throw in my 2 cents. I am a transfer student looking for a place to stay in the fall. I consider myself fairly professional, unorthodox, and mature. I am easy going. I will likely be studying/freelance work 70% of the time.

I am looking for any appt. within biking range or so. Big plus if you are also CS/ECE/STEM etc. I am about graduate student age (If that matters)

I play a lot of PC games. However, less and less these days, my first priority is studying

I usually listen to music with my headphones on, sometimes I might play video games and talk on vent.

I don’t play sports.

I am neat

I don’t know many people in Austin, so guests will be infrequent.

I ususally sleep at around 12:00 to 1:00 and wake up at 9:00 ish, This may change.

I am planning on attending June 23-24 orientation

Also CS student transferring so I will say it again even though I posted it around a few times, if any of ya’ll transferring and gonna get an apartment for the Fall’11 , hit me up, I’m down.

I’m also looking for off-campus accommodations. Right now I’m looking into the House of Commons co-op and various West Campus apartments. I’ll be likely going to Austin several times in the next month to get everything in line for the fall. But if anyone is looking for a roommate/ interested in getting an apartment in West campus let me know.

My info:

Gender: female

Looking for 2bdrm/2bath apartment in west campus for ~$800 per person per month

From: College Station, TX - Studied at Northeastern University (Boston) for 3 yrs

Major: COC (Magazine Journalism)

420 friendly

Very friendly, easy to get along with, neat

Interests: Love Thursday night comedy night on NBC, photography, writing, going to concerts & going out on the weekends with friends.

Usually go to bed around 1-3am and wake up 9:30/10ish. I’m definitely not a morning person.

Have friends from high school that go to UT, so they will probably come over to hang out sometimes.

I don’t have a preference on whether the roommate is male or female–as long as we get along and neither of us feels like we need to be a “phantom” roommate.

Looking for an apartment within walking distance/biking distance.

I applied to Callistian because it was close to the school while being cheaper than on campus dorms while having private bathrooms.

I also did it because I am an out of state student that wants to meet new people. Yes, I’ll be with a lot of Freshman (I am a sophomore) but I really don’t care about a year difference as long as the people are cool.

But I am looking for a dorm partner!

Gender: Female
Looking for: Another out of state student, or at least someone that doesn’t have tons of friends that would be coming over making me feel like I shouldn’t be there.
From: Seattle, Washington.
Major: Computer Science
I don’t care about weed or drinking as long as it is not ALL THE TIME.
I go to bed around 1-3 and get up at like 11… Not a morning person if I can help it.

I’m pretty nice, slightly quiet but trying to become more outgoing. Stubborn but helpful… Uhhh… I dont know? lol

Hey guys, I was a transfer just like y’all last year.

If any of you are interested in a room or splitting one, we need one more roommate (any gender). 26th and San Antonio, literally a street away and closest you can get to campus.
