UT Austin CAP program?

Hoping to hear back from people who have completed it. Was it successful for you and why? If not please explain why not. As someone hoping to enter McComb’s Business School is it even feasible if transferring from UTSA?

Also as someone with 10 AP classes under her belt, would it be possible to meet the 30 hour minimum requirement and will I be able to carry over my AP to UT Austin should I succeed in transferring.

I had CAP friends while at UTSA and also had friends who were regular transfers. My former roommate transfered into COLA(and then internally transferred into the college of education) after our freshman year at UTSA with no trouble at all. My best friend was a regular transfer from a different university, made a 4.0 GPA, and transferred into UT(under economics in COLA) without a problem. I believe you will be able to transfer out with ease if you make a high GPA, but you will still be under COLA when you get to UT Austin, and then have to internally transfer into McComb’s. This link clearly states that if you will not be able to complete the 30hours at UTSA, then you are better off transferring in from somewhere else: https://admissions.utexas.edu/enroll/cap/prospective-students

I actually had friends who transferred into UT from UTSA, but they were not CAP students. Definitely check what coursework you would be taking at UTSA before accepting the CAP program. Be certain it transfers into UT Austin, talk to advisors and do your research!!! I hate to admit this, but UTSA advisors can be lousy when guiding CAP students. I remember hearing my CAP roommate complain about the advisors, and not to mention many of the UTSA upperclassmen bash CAP students. I never bashed on CAP, everyone has different paths and educational goals.

If you want to get into McCombs, my advice would be to go to another college, hit the ground running (weekly office hours/study group from the first week, atrneing the tutoring center within the first month to keep your A, getting involved in on campus groups…) and apply from there.
Pick an affordable college that offers a rigorous education.
