With that rank I don’t think you have much of a chance, sorry.
@Theshowgoeson With your SAT and your rank as you stated above, I think you should apply to several schools to give yourself more opportunity. UT Austin is very competitive. Sorry.
I am 100% deadset on wanting to attend UT Austin but I’m not in the top 7% of my class, meaning I don’t get automatic admission! Here’s some info about me:
Rank: 51/460 (roughly top 11% but could still move up)
GPA: weighted 3.78 unweighted 3.4
Classes: AP Human Geography, AP World History, AP English 3, AP World History, AP Physics (mechanics), AP Psychology, AP English 4, AP AB Calculus, AP Economics, and AP Government
SAT Scores: 1210/1600 but I’m planning on retaking to improve
Work: I work as a special needs caregiver
Extracurricular: Basketball, student council executive board member, athletic training, yearbook, NHS, NAHS, NTHS president, senior council historian, and BESTT (a teacher practicum). And I do various volunteer work activities.
I plan on applying to the school of Liberal Arts as a psychology major.
I know that it’s hard to say if someone will get in or not but based on this information what would you say my odds are?
BTW IM FROM TEXAS
Only people I know who got into UT without high rank or hook, were International Baccalaureate diploma holders with good SAT/ACT scores.
@cerafarringer Work on getting that SAT score up - that’s the best thing you can do at this point. And write strong essays. Also look into CAP and PACE - from what I hear, they sound like good options for liberal arts majors.
Is there time for you to take the ACT with writing and get the scores back? Some people test better on the SAT and some test better on the ACT. Good luck!
