That’s the SAT… I need to think before I post these…
@BrickBean Since your not auto, it kinda is a shot in the dark. Your SAT scores, GPA, and ECs are good but apparently UT looks more at rank than anything. Welcome to the non-auto club, we have a very long and stressful wait ahead of us.
@BreadedPrincess I’m losing my mind over it. I hope you get there, too. I’ll root for you too!
@BrickBean --LOTS of auto admits are still waiting for their admission to major so you are in good company! Hang in there.

Does anyone know when honors decisions for CNS usually come out? Also, does anyone know when they will let us know about merit money? My daughter applied to 40 Acres, but if she doesn’t get that, we are hoping she will get some merit money. She is OOS. Thank you!
@HankE I can’t answer your question but I wouldn’t expect anything from UT in terms of scholarships especially since your daughter is OOS. UT is very stingy with merit scholarships unless you are really top of the top.
@HankE - sounds like their timeline may be a little different (later) than last year. (we heard mid-December last year). What all programs did she apply for?
@KohliTheBeast is correct about merit money. The one positive that we learned from CNS Honors is that they try to offer more $ for returning students rather than incoming freshman. So, if no scholarships are received year 1 there is the opportunity to be considered in following years.
Good Luck!
Does anybody have any idea of when the next wave of admission comes out? I’ve heard February 16 any ideas??
@collegecrazyperson There will probably be a small one around Jan 20 because that’s when one was last year. Admissions hasn’t really been telling anyone anything.
Does anyone know when Engineering Honors decisions came out last year?
It really doesn’t matter when decisions rolled out last year. UT does whatever they want when they feel like it. My oldest Longhorn was accepted to Mechanical Engineering (4 years ago) as an auto admit and received notification of major within a week (around Thanksgiving). Engineering Honors letters went out in March that year (2013). My second Longhorn applied early in November, received major in December, and was invited to join LAH in January.
As already stated, merit money is rare so please don’t count on it. In fact, if you need merit money to attend UT, I suggest that you look more carefully at your back-up schools. One Longhorn has received a little merit money and the other received nothing. They were both auto admits and had high test scores, well above the UT averages. They had many jobs, activities and leadership ECs on their resumes. Both students are in Honors programs at UT. UT doesn’t need to spend $$ to attract the top students; I think it’s offered to the very best applicants who may go elsewhere (think Ivy League schools). Many applicants will attend UT Austin (without merit money) because it’s a great school and affordable, especially for Texas residents.
Relax and enjoy your senior year and try to think about something besides your college apps. No amount of stressing over it will change the outcome or the date you find out. Good luck to everyone waiting!
University of Texas was my top school. I submitted my application before the deadline, along with my school transcript and letters of rec extremely far in advanced. My school uses Naviance to submit all documents from my school directly to colleges. A few days after applying, I realized that my transcript as well as letters of rec were listed as “incomplete” on the my status page, but I unfortunately just assumed they were probably still being processed, so I didn’t think anything of it. Today I checked randomly, and they are still incomplete. I reached out to the school who told me they do not use naviance, and therefore both my transcript and letters of rec are late, and if I’d like to be considered I must write an appeal to the school. I’m from Massachusetts, could anyone who knows more about UT please let me know if I even have a change of getting in now…? Thanks.
*chance^
@ms1316 sorry that happened. It’s a very unfortunate lesson. Ugh. What are your stats and intended major at UT?
hey guys im an OOS applicant and I have a quick question on the status on my status on the UT Portal. It says “We have all the items we need to make your admission decision. As soon as your decision is made, it will be posted on this page and you’ll be notified by mail.” However for some of my friends the status says “We’re currently reviewing your application for admission…” and on the right hand side it says Status: Complete, while there is no such thing on my portal. Is this normal or should I call them up?
